Wood report has Lexy Halladay in their 2x once w her married name once without?? And lists Taylor Chiotto for Washington who isn’t even on the team anymore? They also list Zarbo from Oregon who hasn’t run once this season - not the greatest list from a first glance
Wood report has not made any updates in over a month. Maybe one update all season?

OH! I did not realize that. Thanks for pointing that out!
Ramsden is too high and Mitchell is too low. Mitchell closed regionals really strong.
Surprised Cook is so high and Jepkirui is low as well.
Glad to see Mccabe up there in the rankings.
Re #1, I'm going to wait and see if Henes told Gault anything about Tuohy's hamstring. Not a popular opinion on this board, but if she has been dealing with a late season injury I do think it will probably affect her ability to go for the title at 100%, on that hilly course.

Regardless of what anyone says, we all saw the results of Regionals for Tuohy. If she really WERE dealing with anything, WHY would she put the burners on high and extend her lead? If it were anything, she would have coasted. She did not coast.

She closed the last k slower than nuttycombe and it was a flat course. So, that doesn't tell me anything.

re the injury if there was an issue before regionals do people think she really would have run there? Might something have happened there, I guess? But not in practice before that race.

Still, there was literally no reason whatsoever for her to run fast that day, yet she did. She feels fine. There is nothing to worry about.

Again if the reports are true... who knows. They are holding her back from strides and workouts, maybe they figured she could go easy at regionals.
Henes should have held her out because if this is true, whatever is wrong acted up at regionals on a flat course.

Closing the final 2k in 6:08 is by no definition slow. She was movin’…

It's kinda hard to avoid running fast when starting a XC race with a large field.....
It is not that I don't think anonymous emails are not the gold standard of journalism, but what the email said did not make any sense. And all she said during the race is that she had a cramp and she cooled down normally. That is all we have to go on.
They have her #23… What the? They are HIGHLY underestimating her in my view after seeing her results this season.
Yes, again...I really wonder about the work that gets put into these websites. And this is a paid site to boot...I can't see the rankings.
Anyway, my final rankings:
I moved Mercy up a couple of spots...I believe she is baiting everyone this year.
If Valby can run the hills then obviously she is too low...but if she struggles at all she will fall back. Her and Tuohy are the fastest at this distance, but I'm still not convinced that Valby can run this course...simply because I haven't seen it happen yet.
Cook was beat handily at Big 12's, I think a top 10 finish would be a great result for her first Nats.

It is certainly possible that they for whatever reason decided she was OK to run, and will decide she is OK to run nationals. Covert and Denner have been running injured too.
My comment is more about whether she can realistically contend for #1 on that course, while not at 100%. I hope Henes shares the details with Gault.
Chelangat ran ncaas last year with the flu btw, Dishon ran regionals with food poisoning. So, I think unless extreme Touhy will for sure run.

I don't see what Stride has had Thorner of NM so low all season....she has been within ~15 seconds of their #1 all season and within 7 seconds of Bush at Nuttycombe (who they have at 22)

Solid list! If Chelangat has in fact been holding back this whole time, (which I actually don’t think is the case, as she really did run FAST against Valby when she lost by 8 seconds), then having won on this course previously, she’ll win on Saturday…

There is a big difference between being 'hurt' and being 'injured'. Distance runners have pulls, strains , aches all the time. Easy to get cramps or stitches. Running 'hurt' is normal. There is no way Tuohy was 'injured' coming into Regionals, and they let her run. If she incurred an 'injury' during the race, she may still have finished, but she would not have run for the win. Her team was easily in first at 4k.
And I have been around many athletes during games, matches, races....if there is a suspected injury, you immediately take precautions....wraps, warmups, heat/ice, light stretches...not walking around, taking pictures in shorts and allowing your legs to cool off.
Anyway...she may not be 100%, as very few runners are...but I am not expecting that to be a factor. Unless Tuffy tells us otherwise.

That’s actually a great point. To my knowledge, Tuffy has not said a single thing about that “issue”.
