You're an idiot... I guess in all waterfall starts and 800 style starts you cut everyone off with less than a full stride length... literally the starter gives the instruction to not do that at every race from from age 7 to elite.

This incident reminds me of the Green / Hurta incident at the trials. In general it is the responsibility of the person moving in to make sure they are clear before they move inside. That’s why I felt Hurta got screwed. In this case, however, it is hard to tell if the US runner is trying to move in or Amos is trying to move out. Two similar situations with dissimilar judgements.

Amos only ran 650m of the semi final.

Here’s a better video of the fall that shows Jewett first cutting in front of Amos from his right and then hitting Amos’ knee and falling at which point Jewett’s fallen leg trips up Amos’ shin causing him to fall.

Amos wouldn’t have fallen because of Jewett’s heel hitting his knee alone, which as the Olympic referees seem to have ruled, indeed is part of the race as it’s the cutter’s responsibility to be fast enough while cutting, not the cuttee’s responsibility to slow down.

It’s absurd that Amos is in and Jewett out after seeing this. Unbelievable…. This better get corrected

Slightly after 600m. At 550m or so, Jewett is on the outside of Amos.

In any case, with two runners stuck to the rail ahead, it was not very wise of Jewett to fight for the rail in a slower semi. He stood a better chance on the outside, as Rotich correctly realized. Jewett is clearly inexperienced. He stood no chance with Tuka and Rotich ahead of him, even with no fall

Rotich is currently way better than anyone. Amos has speed but struggles at the finish. A piano carrier. He wouldn't have been a certainty to qualify as besides Rotich there were two other runners he also would have had to beat.

I'm looking forward to Amos taking another fall in the final. The way he races the chances are high.

Why is nobody mentioning the fact that Jewett clipped Tuka which caused the trip.

Seriously? The fall happened at 650m. So Amos was inside 110m before that? And that proves that 110m later, when you can clearly see Jewett taking multiple strides with no contact to Amos, that Jewett cut in on Amos? What I see is Jewett running clean on the rail, then Amos slightly moving outside and clipping Jewett's foot. Not Amos' fault really, but it was him changing position when the contact happened.

Have you ever run a race? When you move to the rail, if you get in cleanly the position is yours. If you're behind and let someone move in on you, you have to slightly back off to move outside if you want to go around. It appears that Amos misjudged the huge length of Jewett's stride.

And to the other clown who keeps mentioning that Jewett ran into Tuka, you can see very clearly on the video that there is no contact between them whatsoever. Are we watching the same race?

Where did Jewett cut in? He was on the rail when he was clipped by Amos. Amos runs up on him, clips him and somehow he’s at fault? This is the stupidity I’m talking about. The runner behind has the responsibility to keep their distance, not the other way around.

I’ve ran everything from 400-3000. Been clipped and tripped from behind by idiots who get too close and don’t have control. I feel bad for Jewett.
