It's Patriots Day but there is no Boston Marathon - What do you most miss about Boston?

1976, the water hose race. Temperatures in the mid to high 90’s made all the favorites crash out. It came down to a race of fitness and adaptation to extreme heat. The podium? One American, one Mexican and one Puertorrican. I was there and saw the whole thing end.

I've been 3 times - twice to race and once as a spectator at the start.

I like the course because it's so New Englandy. The pomp and circumstance is great but the waves still make it feel like a smaller race.

As a spectator I got up right next to the start line. It was cool. But I was literally almost killed driving to the start. I also missed that I found the best way to get to the start after sleeping in my own bed.

Yikes. Bad analogy. None of us were about to get arms, legs, or head blown off upon getting off the bus to run a foot race.
