I find it hard to believe that this many individuals could perform better than someone who just broke the Illinois record. Should be some epic racing.

According to Nico and his coach he is just going for the win and the win only. They have said this many times in interviews.
Coach said he's going harder than he did at sections, not as hard as he can.
I doubt that they (NP or Nico) will need to go very hard to win state. There is no one to challenge them this year. Dana Hills is a good team and lost 59 to 132 them in Sections. I wouldn't be shocked to see NP coast at the state meet given the margin they have on everyone else.
To all of you amazed at fast California times - the courses here are flat, hard-packed dirt, nearly every meet is like what Jim Ryun ran his first sub-4 on.
The famous "hilly" courses here are known as flat courses where you live, because they are.
And the number one reason California kids aren't allowed to wear spikes in CIF is because nearly all the races have significant road sections. Cross country my ass.

Woodward park is not flat and Riverside's surface is so soft and not fast (Not Hilly). Are you really doubting Nico's times on these courses? I guess his 8:40 as a junior shows how slow he is.

Correct. I just think he will get caught up in the moment.
Unfortunately, very likely no Daschbach at NXN due to an injury he sustained following his Mt. SAC race.
He toughed out his AZ state meet -- and won -- because he wanted to help his team win, which it did.
He did not run NXR Southwest.
However, he may be extended an invitation by Nike to run NXN but unknown at this time if he would accept.
Rain all week in Fresno so Woodward Park course will be pretty muddy and sloppy in places.
No reason to be chasing records this Saturday at the CA state xc meet.
