Are you heat whiners the same idiots who brag about running in nothing but your short shorts during the winter?

I don't know why running pre-dawn is unpalatable for all of you oh-so-serious runners.
Don't run in the afternoon when the heat index is 100+. Get out before sun up.

Yes, yes I am. Do you have a problem with that?

Coolest place I've ever mived is Alabama. I'm accustomed to running in the heat. For me sub 40 is much less pleasant than 95. I sweat a lot and that probably helps. If it feels too hot I still go hard but controlled. Maybe 12 hills instead of 16.
The health risks are alway there — idiots who push themselves more than their preparation permits will always be at risk, whatever the conditions.
1) If Alabama is the coolest place you have ever lived, then damn...
2) Nothing cool about Alabama in any sense of the word :)

I'd say about 99% of the time you CAN do the same workout in the heat, if you adjust your pace appropriately. That's not "crazy advice" at all. It's smart to cut short an 8 mile run early if you know you've overdone it, but all you're really saying there is that you screwed up and chose the wrong pace in the first place.
Also, your advice to people is southern states is exactly backwards (unless they are just visiting). Athletes who are acclimated to the heat day in/day out are much more likely to choose the correct paces based on experience.
Please tell this to the people that die every year because they follow this advice. Hey quite a few major races we're called this weekend. Why???
Uhhh...the advice you quoted -to SLOW DOWN in the heat - does not cause people to die.
Tens of thousands of runners will/already have raced this weekend -safely- because they're smart enough to back off the pace and trained properly for their event.

Folks, four words, New York City Triathlon. They canceled it for a reason. When the heat's very dangerous you have to make alternative plans, such as slowing down, cutting the workout shorter, are running indoors because this nonsense of just slow down and drink a lot of water in this dangerous heat for everybody, is poor advice. The point is everybody can't follow the advice of just slowing down, some people have to cut the workout short.

Many races are being called this weekend.Advising people slow it down and do the same workout and you'll be fine is retarded. I am not saying don't run at all, just run less. Running cannot be a cookie cutter approach for everyone and everything.

Yes it must be so, and I have to run my 5x18 tomorrow afternoon.
