I see a lot of people posting stuff like, "if it's hot just adjust the pace, you can do the same workout" or " it's all between your ears, just drink a lot and you will be ok ". A lot of this is crazy advice and can ultimately lead to someone going out on a Extremely Dangerous Heat Advisory Day and trying to do a workout they could do in 45 degree weather, but try to do it in 117 degree heat index weather, and they might end up in some serious trouble on the workout. If you live in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, or Mississippi, you should not take their advice because they are probably in Boston, Seattle, or somewhere like that. Let's be realistic, some of you can run good in the heat, but others can get in real trouble out there. You have to cut back on some days because even if you can handle the heat it's still going to beat you up. I know more then a few times l had a 8 mile run planned, but had to call it at 6 miles because I knew I was going to have some problems. I have lived in Kansas and Missouri, and I can tell you Houma, Louisiana feels a hell of a lot hotter then both of them.
