Hey, any of you who have checked out this guy's various media, what's on his feet? Is there a variety of shoe brands, or does he seem to be loyal to one. If he's religiously wearing one with a conspicuous absence of any other, they're probably paying him. Likely only free shoes, but that's still sponsorship.

Ran super high mileage to crack 30 for 10km in college (I did too so I can relate).
We aren't the most talented types of guys ...so an OTQ can be hard and it requires a lot of 120 mile + weeks... (BTW I was working 30 hours a week in the shoe store at Hansons when I got an OTQ in 2011).
He also works at a shoe store in Boulder....probably lives in a van because rent is pretty freaking expensive here in Boulder.
I respect that more than the "trust fund athletes" that come to Boulder (there are lots) and have it easy with fancy apartments and a lot of free time on their hands to hire professional videographers etc...
The guy is a super hardworker and seems very well grounded and is humble. I hope he gets his OTQ!

Or taking the chance to live off the grid, on his own terms, gives him the experience and perspective to truly innovate. In 20 years, he sells his successful business, based on the creativity and grit he learned in his formative, post collegiate years, for several million dollars, allowing to move into comfortable semi retirement as a division 3 cross country coach.

If nothing else living in the van keeps him, as Canaday points out, grounded. Plus he can go up to sleep at 8000-10,000' anytime he wants!
