Whet if runners stopped wearing gps watches or a watches at all. What if we just ran places for everyday life and whatever effort we felt like. What if we just ran to get places. Like run to the library or run to the post office. Or just run through the wilderness without any sense of pace or duration. Would we be just as fast on race day or even faster?

I agree with this. I joined because the UI is better than Garmin connect so it's easier to view maps and stats. I obsessively care about these things which definitely hasn't held my racing back. As for the social media aspect I love my close friends but I miss the days before it turned into Facebook where every acquaintance added you (just my experience).

Scott ran awesome but lately it seems his arrogance is really growing. For him to state that athletes who don't post their strava data everyday are arrogant just shows that he is arrogant and also ignorant. Many athletes don't have time and some simply don't feel a need to do it. Just because u have no life and need confirmation from fake social media friends on strava to pump up your ego doesn't mean every other elite needs to follow your lead.
It's a Walmsley move too. He complained his competition didn't post their training prior to UTMB. Xavier destroyed him.
There's no requirement to post your training. It doesn't matter either way IMO.
Strava is lame. No one cares about your workouts. Just like Facebook and IG, no one cares about your protein smoothie.

This sounds like complete and total BS. Do you know the history of GPS? It was designed for military applications. The satellites orbit to cover the whole earth. Why would they want dead zones in Kenya where it doesn't work. Answer, there's no f'ing way. Where'd you get this myth from?
Most of Kenya is wide open. GPS should work there as well as anywhere especially on wide open dirt trails.
