The pacing in the women's Wanamaker was much worse.

The rabbits actual splits were:

28.3 (extrapolated from 209m)

26.4

28.0

29.7

= 153.7 for 880y

He was too fast on the second 200m, but that could certainly be from seeing the slow first split and not realizing the 209m time. His last 200 was slow but he was also slowing down once Kejelcha passed him.

Not the best rabbit job but I’ve also seen way worse. Kejelcha lost himself the record by letting up on lap seven.

I assume Kejelcha does not share your views because if he does, that would be whining and a sign of being a wimp. When you are going for a world record, you should prepare for any eventuality. For a record to materialize, there are many factors that are involved. It is very rare that all factors. Normally when most of the factors align, you are able to get the record. Take a cue from Eliud Kipchoge's marathon world record chase last year. Pace making failed to live up to the expectations. Kipchoge had to take off by himself from 25K yet pace makers were supposed to take him to 30K. Still he was able to push and adjust his pacing to achieve what he set out to do. And ACHIEVE he did! So when you fail, just admit that you failed and move on for there is going to be another day to fight.

Monti did a very poor job at having pacers in both mens and womens races both failed miserably.

Time for him to go!
