I prefer to watch classier movies with better acting, like Mean Girls. Tracktown does NOT look fetch

Did she blow 50% of the budget getting David Wallace from The Office to play a minor role in it?

It is awesome that she gets to make movies, especially if she isn’t good at it. She obviously is passionate about it, so if she can do it and make a living doing and still running, more power to her. So many people work their entire lives, and are even talented and skilled at it, but they are miserable. I’d rather be terrible at something and be passionate about it. Hopefully over time with work and passion, she’ll get better. If not, at least she enjoyed what she was doing.

Yep! The hate she gets on here is pure jealousy. If you really don't like what she does it how she does it, stop looking and watching her every move.

I got 2/3 through Tracktown, maybe further, and couldn't have watched the end if you paid me. I liked Pappas before as a runner. I'd been following her presence on social media, enjoyed her vlog, and I'd previously liked her work with the NY Times, but I can't even hear her voice or see her name without remembering her acting that Tracktown part. Just the memory elicits the same cringing response as nails on a chalk board for me. I can't even watch video of her anymore, running or otherwise.

She's a nice person and I wish her well in her running career and I think she'll be great representing Greece, but I will always be traumatized by the memory of Tracktown

It did get a 73% on RT, albeit with 15 reviews. Still, I have zero interest in watching.

Funny you should bring up how her detractors are all “jealous”. One of the major indicators of narcissism is jealousy. Narcissists are always focused on jealousy. They live to make other people jealous and take great pleasure in doing so. They constantly accuse others of jealousy. Believing others to be jealous serves to reinforce their own self image which has to be constantly propped up because it is so shaky. Very similar to how someone with a Don Juan complex needs to constantly “score”.

Alexi's filmmaking isn't any better or any worse than the standard low-budget independent movies that run the festival circuit. They all tend toward the twee-ish, coming of age, self-discovery stuff. I found Tracktown to be pretty corny and dully written and acted, but earnest and with its heart in the right place. Half of getting your movie produced and in big festivals is the ability to network like crazy, which Alexi and Jeremy, for better or worse, seem to be GREAT at. So while I don't think Alexi is a great artist by any means, I still think it's impressive that she was able to get a film into SXSW.

So what you are saying is that a person could have all the qualities of narcissism except jealousy, and therefore not be a narcissist?

Holy Shite!! Are you kidding me?? Just watched the trailer and it's not only not bad, it's pretty damn good. Thanks for posting it. I would encourage anyone who hasn't seen it to just invest 2 minutes and see for yourself. Why all the vitriol??

Her voice annoys me. I made it about 5 seconds into the trailer.

Not sure about SXSW but for many festivals you just have to pay them some money to get your film shown...

That doesn't mean A & J aren't good at networking or film making... that's more of a subjective thing...

I'll admit her voice irritated me too. And also the way she speaks, the pacing of her words. That said, I didn't see anything cringe-worthy in the trailer. While I love running, I doubt I'd choose to pay to see this. But at the same time, it's obviously WAY better than any film I could make. Every runner on here needs to have a day job. I admire where she's going with hers, swinging for the fences.

Someone has to keep watch on her.....she's known to exploit her middleschool fanbase for monetary gains.

holy crap, the first 10 seconds of naration are pretty bad......but the rest is less bad than i thought, especially after seeing the trailer for her new movie. I can see some people likeing this movie. the worst part is her acting....mistakes lilting pausing speech for 'quirky' and insightful.

Would be interesting to see how to audience would have reacted if her character had taken the easy way out and gotten a Greek passport to achieve her dreams. there's a reason they don't make inspiring movies out of those kinds of stories...they aren't inspiring.
