Gwen being a Nike athlete she no doubt knew about Cragg and I'm sure the Hasay info wasn't hard to find out either. So the question is, is that why Gwen choose Chicago over other fall races? Chance to be top American and run a solid time with the rabbits in the elite field??
Hasay did five miles on one of those knee scooter devices the other day. Her foot in a full boot..
That must take awhile to get in on one leg.
I hope Gwen won't be running alone for most of the race. If there are good pacemakers she will be fast !

I think that's why it's good for Gwen to be running Chicago's mixed start instead of NYC's women's only start. In Chicago she can get paced by male groups; in NYC she could be alone for 18 miles.
Rumors are it is not safe in Chicago. You can run scared, you can run away, you can run another day. It's easier to heal a running injury than it is to heal a random gunshot wound.

I think that is the best case scenario, but we don't know the extent of her injury. That is one thing that I hate about running. Injury information is just overly confidential, until a couple of weeks before a race, and even then the injury is not talked about in great detail.
Her injury has to be pretty significant since we have not seen her run any tune up or shorter distance races.

She was trampled by Josh Cox when he thought the doorbell was a dinner bell.
I just listened to a podcast with her from sept 12th and she said she tripped and hurt her hamstring back at the beginning of starting to train for Chicago. But at the time of the podcast she was fully training so not sure if something happened from then until now or if she just didn’t feel ready from her previous hamstring injury.
