This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. 35 and 25 mpw seems way to conservative. Tuohy's 10-mile long runs would be nearly 50% of her mpw if Mitchell was coaching her.
Obviously works very well for Bronxville. For a school with a listed population of 392 for next year they compete well with the largest schools in New York. It’s not about quantity but quality.
You almost spelled her name right -- I know it is hard when they write it in the FIRST SENTENCE.

Yeah thats what everyone else on the team does, but he said Tuohy does 45 mpw.

The wording is confusing at first, but I’m pretty sure there are 2 different programs being mentioned. Tuohy runs for North Rockland and has run up to 45 mpw with a 10 mile long run. Mary Cain ran for Bronxville in HS and the Bronxville coach that mentioned his girls running 25-35 mpw. I’m not sure how long he trained Cain before she transitioned to Salazar’s training.

FACT - at least in terms of premature infants. We had a baby boy born at 25 weeks and heard it nearly daily. He went home on Oxygen and was on a ventilator for 6 weeks while in NICU

whilst what you said may be true, what the professor was talking about has zero to do with premature infants.
1. lung size increases in line with other organs, at puberty.
2. girls commence puberty earlier than boys.
3. hence, girls lung size increases earlier than boys.

She can't run at the USA champs without a qualifying time. She won't get into a diamond league race. The college season is over so no opportunities there. Where is she going to race?

She could race in non-DL European meets until she runs a time that will get her into Diamond Leagues. This outdoor season means little, and she can just use random meets to sharpen before Millrose and US indoors. She pretty much says as much here:

25 mpw? That seems awfully low even if that is the point. Any relitivley good runner needs to do more the 25 miles a week. Also if they are doing low Millard it means they are probably more workout and effort based, which can be worse for girls. Mileage is less on the body then over training from putting in too much effort which happens a lot of teens. If they are actually doing 25, they are some talent. Basically every girl on my xc team runs more then that and we aren’t that good. I feel like most girls will run anywhere from 30-40 mpw.

True. Every girl on my HS XC team runs between 40-50 miles a week. The only ones who run less than 40 are the brand new girls, and they are at 40 by the end of that season. I don't even know how you would run a program at 25 miles a week? Practice would be over in 30 minutes.
The typical girl running prodigy is built like a spider and benefits from a stupendous power/weight ratio even when she is quite weak compared to professional runners with sustainable careers. Tuohy is clearly not one of those girls. She is built like a pro with form that few runners will ever achieve (certainly not MC).
