Think it’s a legit question when any athlete experiences success on this level with little to no peaks and valleys. Not an accusation, just a legit question. Sounds like you’re a little close to be objective.

Jealousy is strong with you. A 13 YO is faster than you will ever be and you start throwing unfounded accusations.

I met Aidan in the start corral about 20 minutes before the race. Had no idea who he was. We chatted and he asked me my goal time and pace. 15:40’s which was the same as his. We talked about working together. Im old enough to be his dad and was quite impressed with his focus and maturity (mentally). After seeing him crush his record, I’m now a big fan and will be following his development and career. He’s the normal size and build of a 13 year old XC runner. From everything I could tell he is a clean athlete with an intense focus and a very supportive coach and family. Aidan if you are reading this, ignore the haters and trolls. Keep chasing your dreams!

Go to YouTube and check out some of his races. Here are some observations.
1. Very good form and natural running style. Somewhat like a mini Evan Jager.
2. The 'old school' long hair, gives him a somewhat unique look, as most of his peers sport buzz cuts these days.
3. Incredible family support system. In all his races, his mother is right there, with her booming voice "you look great Aidan, great pace!' etc.
In summation, if he stays lightly trained he might become a great runner in college and beyond. The issue is, can he keep his motivation long enough to reach that stage ?

Too bad "Age-Group" WR times are only reserved for Western countries (seemingly only kids in the U.S. and definitely not Kenya or Ethiopia)... At 13 years old, nobody actually thinks 15:47 is fast enough that no other 13 year old in the world has ever gone faster? Really? It's good, but I'm not that impressed. Also, people suggesting PEDs are stupid if they think that performance is good enough to even raise an ounce of suspicion.

Are you all seriously act like it isn't highly suspect that they don't start including East Africans until 16 when they are running INTERNATIONALLY competitive times and the record drops from 15:10 at 15 to 13:15 at 16? Do you think these guys weren't over there racing each other at 13, 14, 15 and then just magically got to race against international competition and ran 13:15 the first go? I'm calling BS on the "Age-Group" WR.

Riiiight...track and field athletes are making universities tons of money...selling their singlets and benefiting off of the rock star personalities. I had 5 years paid to run at a phenomenal school, earned two AA certificates, and got my degree. Had a blast in the process. I got the better end of the deal.

40 now seems reasonable to me. I found an article from when he ran 17:06 as a 11-year old at 4’7” 75 lbs. That article stated he ran his first serious race 18 months earlier.
So the dude responds strongly to training and honestly hasn’t been doing it that long, under 5 years.
