No it's not awkward. That was a typo clearly. I was responding to a guy who said he would have broken 3:50.00 (and I've changed my first post now to clear that up.

If you can't get the standard without artificial conditions, then clearly you don't need to be worrying about it in the first place. Engels is a talent. who is going to have zero problem running 3:39 in a nationally televised race on a bank track with rabbits.
The biggest issue is if there is a 1500 camera en route you aren't normally going to go all out and stop there. That's why I still think even if Reggie is way slower it's a better option. Way better.
Can you provide me with the 1500 splits? What was his 1500 time? I'd like to see those. I imagine it was 3:38.73 based on the fact that at the Armory his 1500 split was 15.23 seconds faster than his final time. So if that's true - he BARELY got under the 3:39 standard when in reality he ran the equivalent of like a 3:36.

Especially Mo Farah. Double the olympics is the easiest route usually. Also, the Diamond League track meets are all such a joke.

Was Engels ducking Ches? Why would he not jump in that race with less people and just have Ches as a rabbit for the entire race as long as he could keep up? No, that didn’t work at camel city f it I’m sure he would have fell off but still run 3:51. He wants to look good and win not grind it out in a knock out drag out battle and run a fast(er) time.
He wanted to get the world standard (3:55.0) and he did. Now he will win USA and run at worlds while Ches is renting a red box and hang out with his agent who instagrams pictures of waffles
Based on the finalized results it looks like there was no camera at the 1500m mark for Engels' heat.
If I heard correctly, despite heavy bath salt doping, Engels had not yet broken 4:00 in the mile. Can you really fault a guy for not wanting to run some metric distance at the NB Grand Prix? #BringBackTheMile
Craig has broken 4 at least 5 times, including the two weeks prior to the 3:53
