Did FL send her a letter, an email, a text, or make a phone call?

Are we sure that someone didn't suggest that she should run the Foot Locker REGIONAL, and she is just confused?

flotrack has since retracted their story with a quote from FLCC saying no such letter or contact was ever made.

my guess on what happened, FLCC got caught doing something behind closed doors or "underhanded" some people would say, they got turned down and wernt gonna say anything about it, it got leaked so theyre trying to cover for themselves now.

another possibility is that they suggested it and got turned down because Touhy wasn't interested, and they never actually guaranteed she would get the ticket although if she had been interested she would have gotten it.

I would bet this is it since it was only a 5 minute conversation. There is no way FL would have made the offer, FL has never worked that way. NXN on the other hand allowed 6 runners from the southwest region last year, breaking its own rules in the process, to accommodate a 8th grader.

What we do know is Claudia Lane could have run NXN by vurtue of Nike’s free pass to California top finishers but choose to indeed do the FL Regional with no assurances off qualifying for FL.

Claudia could have run with a 102 degrees fever, a broken leg and no shoes and still won FL regionals.

it's not touhy's fault they aren't racing. it's lanes for not choosing nxn. touhy going to nike makes since because her team qualified. but lane should have gone to nike to race touhy. she's good enough to do foot locker the next weekend and still defend her title.

Lets remember a few years back Ostrander and Rohrer split between NXN amen Foot Locker. It would be nice to see Lane and Toughy match up though. Maybe in track.

Footlocker West and NXN were on the same day.

Ostrander/Rohrer, Kelati/Rainsberger....Year in year out this is an issue. Check things out a few years later and you can usually see who is clearly better.

Ostrander has a pretty favorable record over Rohrer, Rainsberger and Kelati have raced once with Kelati running faster.

It's HS. Unless one of these meets changes their dates, this conversation will happen every year.

LKet's check back on Touhy and Lane in a a couple of years and see who is better when they race each other.

I was thinking maybe they were considering offering to move the regional back, be it by a few hours or a whole day so it wouldn't conflict with Nxr NY and Tuohy could run both. Of course, two hard efforts in close proximity would be rough, but we're talking probably the best girl ever to run hs cross country.

My primary reasoning is that in 2015, Drew Hunter made it very clear he would be willing to run 2 races in one day to qualify for both meets, but neither Nike nor Footlocker would move its race by even a few hours.

Look at the FL winners vs. NXN winners on the boys side.. it's not even close - FL is dominate.

Dude this is 2017, not 2003. In fact the tide turned in 2013 with the all-time epic girl's battle, and Wilmot's heroic run.

Nothing less than a near course record in San Diego will put anyone ahead of Troutner for this year's boy's crown.

I will bet the discussion was about a free pass (no entry fee) into the regional as a hope that it would be enough to get her to think about running that instead of the NXN NY Regional. This was just a major misunderstanding on the part of the coach. As the FL people have said there was never an offer of a free pass into the San Diego race.
