Based upon Cam's comments and Kenyan Martin's comments we can discern the following: Black lives matter. Women's don't and neither do Asians. Which brings us to the next issue: Who is more racist white people or black people?

I think the problem with words like this is that it CAN be condescending, but isn't always. But because it CAN be condescending, some people treat it as though it's ALWAYS condescending. That forces people into their respective corners of claiming it's never condescending or always condescending.

What's next. Women will want to work outside of the home and have the right to vote, too?

I don't get the people saying the word alone is condescending. I've never been offended when anyone has called me sweetheart. I have called other people, especially old women, sweetheart and they seem to like it.

Maybe it's just a contextual thing. The faster girl on our xc team we called "Tubby" and it was funny, but we certainly wouldn't say that to a thrower or a softball chick.
