I guess that shouldn't be a surprise. It's still 1964 in the Midwest.

Really? I attended a university in Illinois that drew mostly from the state (Chicago, St. Louis, suburbs, small towns) but also to a lesser extent from other parts of the Midwest and the country. I don't recall one person wearing or mentioning a high school class ring. What did I miss?
Exactly. You were at a university.
Once you're in college, you leave the HS stuff at home. That includes senior year tshirts, letter jackets, and class rings.
I work at a private university where lots of students come from pretty elite private high schools... the first few weeks of school you'll see a few freshmen walking around with their HS logo gear... it doesn't last long ;)
I am from the south and gragueated in 1984. Back then a girl would wear her boyfriend's class ring to ad a sign that the couple was "going steady". Goofy as hell but all in good fun.
I know someone who wears their community college state track championship ring 10 years after the fact.
You're gonna look like one of those Texas A&M people. Always trying to summon Captain Planet.

So I found my high school class ring the other day. When does it become "lame" to wear it? I really like it. Paid with my own money to have it all platinum and a few more things done to it, but I can't help but think I'm being judged for wearing it again.
Ordinarily I'd say do whatever makes you happy/whatever you like as long as you're not hurting anyone else, but the correct answer is zero days. My brother talked our parents into getting him an ipod for the cost of the class ring back when ipods were wicked expensive. He was a smart kid. Wish I would have thought of that.
Even the thought of ordering a class HS ring makes me shudder in embarrassment for you. It's so lame it makes me think you were stuffed in a locker daily in HS. The HS class right is the utmost symbol of being a loser in HS. You probably were in the A/V club, built sets in the HS play and tried to do homemade play by play for HS sports.
IT'S ALWAYS BEEN LAME. IT WILL NEVER BE COOL

Someone claiming to be from the south saying they "gragueated." Classic. 9/10.
Hey, if high school was the pinnacle of your life, then you should proudly wear it!

If you want to be labeled a LOSER wear it as long as you want.
I don't recall anyone in my high school class of 550 ever wearing the ring, although they did buy it
HS class of '63
Bumped into my HS ring in the bottom draw a month or so ago.
iirc nationally there were only 13-15% of HS grads going to college then so a HS ring was a big thing.
Ring was a present from my Grandmother and finding it brought back some wonderful memories of her. I doubt I wore it 50 times.
It's acceptable to wear it whenever you want to wear it.

About a day after you receive it, or the day following your graduation, whichever comes last.
I don’t think there’s any rule for it. In my HS we got them in our Sophomore year, so everyone pretty much wore them through the rest of high school and maybe first year of college. I graduated from HS 14 years ago and recently after visiting my parents I found mine in my old room. Hadn’t seen it in probably 10 years. Like some others said it brought back some nice memories of old friends and whatnot, and after that I wore it a few times just as a fun throwback. Really you can do whatever you want with it.
NEVER

I sold mine for gold a few years ago (almost 20 yrs after HS), it had sat in a box forever... I paid for mine with my own hard earned $ too at 4.25 hr back then I think... had some upgrades added to the fake glass stone. ugh... my folks told me at the time it was a waste of money, but I was sure it would be a great keepsake. It's not. For all HSers reading this... save your $.

WTF is a high school ring?
