Congratulations. Happy for your success - this is the reason we all do this.
Thank you very much for your continuous support Smoove..
I look forward to further improve this result/timing come 2017.
My main aim, is to run sub 16' at the Malta National Track Championships May 2017.
Any recommendations/insights from your side that might come handy from hereon?
Darren.
** bump.. seems like very few take this online running forum seriously nowadays, which is a pity knowing some of the quality posters on here..
Despite the fact that I have put up a serious, constantly updated and honest running blog, nobody seems to care much in giving their insights/suggestions remarks.

That's because you have no story to tell. Are you a former drug addict? Did you lose 100 pounds? Any other affliction you overcame to run? Doesn't sound like it. People want a human interest story. Not a dude blogging about his hobby and race times they can't understand. Good luck though!
Sorry to rain on your parade but, seriously, if we all had our own "blog" threads on this forum there would be a thousand of these threads. Congrats on your 5K.
Hey Darren, I started using this forum recently and didn't see your prior posts. I appreciate your training log and journey. Please keep going, and thank you for sharing. This is what LRC should be about.
Does this say something then?

Btw, hobby jogger your mother..
As the most famous quote goes 'Don't judge a book by it's cover'
Then so be it, and everyone would be supporting one another, giving best possible advice, sharing one's experiences, the do's and don'ts.. what worked for us, what didn't.. and so what if there were a thousand?
If we truly love the sport, we wouldn't mind replying, supporting and seeing other people enthusiastic and passionate for our beloved sport called running!
Thanks for the well wishes, much appreciated.
Darren.
Why is every distance metric based? Are you not American?
I come from Malta, a tiny island in the Mediterranean Sea.
We never use miles or what have you but km's of course (we are in 2016 not in 1906 mate.)
I'm interested and will follow it.
I'm curious about something and I hope you don't mind the question.
Do you had injuries which could be caused by eventual imbalances?
What is your training goal?
I think that your thread would have more audience if you specify it in the title.
Like "My journey to break 14:00/5k".
Which I think you could with your attitude.

Oh. Ok. Good running and best wishes!
Absolutely no problem asking about my disability or personal questions :)
Have been running since 2011, however in 2013/15 & 16 I succumbed to injury, all on the left leg.
In 2013, I tore my left calve muscle duringbthe Malta Half Marathon, (I hobbled the last mile to finish in 1:21'20")
In 2015, I suffered a double micro stress fracture in the tibia n shin bones.
In 2016, I had an achilles tendinitis which nagggdd me from January till August. It let me run on alternate days, hence mileage was very low for many months.
As at to-date, I'm pain free n last Saturday I improved my 5k road PB by 3" (which stood since January 2015). I have commenced doing gym work - plymetrics & also running drills 2/3x a week n this change has positively effected my overall health n wellbeing, especially after hard track workouts or races. Fingers crossed I can keep injury free, n can continue following my heart n chasing my dreams!
Running sub 16' for 5k is the dream.. Running 14' for 5k would be heaven, & to be honest (despite I go by 'impossible is nothing' motto) it eoiof be very unrealistic for someone in my conditions, with a full time office job + a family to run such a wonderful time.
Thanks for your interest in my running journey n blog!
Would love to hear more from you in the future! As an aside, do you run too? :)
Darren.
Many thanks NonMetric! Much appreciated :)

Umm, no one on here runs except you
Great stuff, and welcome to LetsRun!
Thanks for the follow & positive approach!
Do you run also? :)
Darren.
Have you considered carrying an extra weight on the left arm to compensate the imbalance? Maybe the injury risks would be less.
Great progress! Sub 16 is just around the corner!
7/10
Nice troll thread. You're up to two pages
