Women prefer "dad bod" over super fit. Why is that?

It's all about the face and wallet. Oh and penor size too

They don't. However, most men do not take care of themselves as they age and look like cr@p. It is considered okay for men to lose their looks whereas women are held to a higher standard. Also, women probably prefer a chunky man because there is less threat from other women.Bottom line: Women like men who take care of themselves.It baffles me that most guy do not moisturize or wear sunscreen. They als drink too much booze.I am 41 and look 27 (according to girls at my work) because I moisturize my face, and I don't drink too much beer. I barely even run (40km a week) but I'm thin (but not rail thin).

A guy with a dad bod is seen as a provider, while the fit guy is seen as only worried about himself. The same reason men like wide hips and large boobs. Those women are capable of birthing and sustaining children. It's how humans are wired. A quick google search will provide much documentation to back up what I said. I don't care for women who are super fit/super skinny/musclebound. It's gross. If I wanted that I'd date a man.

NOOO. Dad bod to me means occasional gym time and some extra weight. NOT HOT. AT ALL. The women who find this physique attractive are out of shape/non athletes themselves. Gross all around.

HOWEVER, if by "super fit" you mean running hound, skin and bones, gawky face, then yes, lots of ladies will find this too scrawny and non sexy. The swimmers (virile appearance) will win. See NY Mag thread

This is the answer but with some caveats...

Not ALL women are self conscious about their bodies. Some have great bodies and take care of themselves and know it.

Women AND men don't necessarily like to have a partner that is more fit than them, and both are equally capable of worrying about cheating.

Just ask Hadsell. He has been able to land a steady stream of 20-somethings with his Dad bod.

Tough call. I'd probably opt for skinny runner, under duress, over frat guy. Frat guys are predominantly horrible human beings.

"Dad bod" is a misnomer. There are plenty fathers with white collar jobs who don't let their bodies turn to amorphous mush blobs.

Just a little reminder that the majority of women are capable of giving birth and rearing children. Happens all the time.

I think the guy implied he could be but he would not. Have you seen a plot of the 5-year after marriage divorce rate vs. # of sexual partners before marriage? Anybody remember when AIDS was said to be a pandemic and not merely an epidemic? Are people today unaware that the out-of-wedlock birth rate in the USA circa 1960 was around 5-7% (and direct abortion was illegal) whereas today it is around 41-42% (and direct abortion is legal and used to end about 25% of known pregnancies)? Good luck to all the playas. I wonder what they teach their kids (the ones that they don't abort). I don't understand the idiocy about sex outside of marriage. I realize many people share my attitude but fail to live up to their beliefs, yet the outright planning and deliberation of some people toward what used to be called "sin, stupidity, vice, déclassé" and the like is stunningly regressive not only for themselves but also for society.

They want money/security first. Most skinny fit runners are still living the go to the olympics (trials) dream and only make enough to feed themselves and live with their parents.

Skinny runners don't look super fit. They look like they haven't eaten in 3 months

I definitely prefer guys with a "dad bod." Probably because my dad is the first guy I ever hugged. I don't want a fat guy, but a cute little gut is hawt.

Pretty sure the whole "dad bod" thing is a media creation, though I will say there is an underlying issue with "super fit". Generally while being fit is considered optimal, what leads someone to become "super fit" is indicative of an obsessive personality.
