You have a better memory than I. Coach Ralph Tate said at a team meeting the Schultz was the "fastest white man." We all chuckled a bit since that was the year that Valeryi Borzov one the Olympics. I am sure you recall the great 440 yd and 400 m hurdler Jim Bolding. He was terminally ill and we had one heck of a reunion in his honor a number of years ago.

Also there is an Australian who ran 9.93, Britain has 6 a 9.99 or faster, time to stop using race as an excuse.
Schultz was the best white 100/200/400 combo sprinter at that time.
Jim Bolding could split a sub 46.0 as ya know, think he was also a 13.7 guy to go wih the longh hurdles prowess. Yes his story is sad.

I believe Bolding won the Big 8 indoor 60 yd hurdles one year. We also had the use of Steve Pettis, football wide receiver. Steve was a good overall sprinter, much need for relay duty.

He STLL holds the Oklahoma State 100 yard record at 9.2 I think. I think he was still there when he ran that 9.2.

200m specialist but ran 10.14 in the 100. Won an indoor 200m World title and made the finals of a couple of World Championships but didn't medal. Pretty long career at US National level.
Attended sprint factory Drake University and pulled from the mean streets of Des Moines.
That's right and like most white sprinters they are better at 200m. Something that Teeters isn't.
