Are we sure about wind readings and timing?

These were regional championships and an invitational for selected events. They were meant as an opportunity to qualify for European champs and Olympics. Run for the fifth time in this format, it's doubtful they made a blatant mistake. Not just a small affair. And at that time the wind wasn't gusty, I was there myself.

Nothing to see here. It is well known that black don't crack. Old black guys (e.g. Lagat & Collins) run faster than most young white guys. Fact.

Correct grammar is the difference between knowing your sh** and knowing you're sh**.

Collins 9.93 with 1.9 m/s wind is equivalent to his 9.96 with 1.0 m/s wind that he ran in 2014. In other words, he didn't improve, he just got a lucky break with the wind.

That being said, he has changed his training around to include strength training which he never did in his younger days. General training techniques, tracks, shoes, spikes and understanding the impacts of diet/nutrition/sleep/stress have also improved since he started way back in 1995 (!). so there are a lot of legit reasons for him to run so well at 40.

It's pretty amazing that a former World Champion could set his lifetime best at age 40.

Most people that set a PR after 40 are those that never trained as hard in their youth.

We don't really know if the Salbutamol is helping with his longevity in the sport, but even I have to take his accomplishments with a grain of salt.

Someone without talent can pump themselves full of all the best PEDs, follow the best training program and still not break 12 seconds for 100m. Not excusing PED users, but even they have amazing talent to get to the top level of performance. Certain attributes are only inherited.

An independent body confirmed that Collins has asthma, both constitutional and exercise induced. In otherwords, he wasn't faking it in order to get some drugs.

The amount of salbutamol that asthmatics take is measured in micrograms (parts per million), whereas the amount a body builder takes to bulk up is measured in milligrams (parts per thousand), so as mentioned above Collins is taking tiny amounts. Body builders also taking steriods orally or injected, which has more systemic affects than inhaled.

1 Your talent comment. We are talking about 10.1/2 guys going sub 10

2 The level of drug in your system declines quickly over time does not mean it was not once higher. It exceeded the level for doping and didn't have a TUE what's the point of a rule if you don't stick to it. He would get a ban if it happended now
