mick hates the at-large points system. maybe his master plan is to screw around with it until others also find it unpalatable.

Wisco is famous for this . Running two races a season, resting guys at important meets etc. I guess you could say its work for them. Pretty strange. I would worry about a kids confidence level only running at "90%".
Here's a video of the race. I've watched Gallagher compete since high school and when he was at Northeastern and he always looked comfortable racing but he looked really out of it in this one.

Some years Byrne has employed this sort of strategy, sometimes not, depending on the circumstances. Similar when Jerry was coaching. Good coaches analyze their team and do what is best to help them win when it counts - "Big Ten and Beyond" as Mick says.
Yes Solinsky and Bairu did run slower controlled races while at Wisconsin. It is stupid to think any D1 runner is going to go out every race and run it 100%.

Any of you that actually gives a shit and are complaining that Wisconsin ran easy are all just a bunch of fans of other teams who are jealous of the hardware wisco is going to bring home come November.
