Sorry for not being clearer. In NJ and most of these talented kids they start running at an earlier age. In the area she grew up running programs became established for grade school and junior high kids. In the NJ Herald article she had shown promise at this level but stopped participating and then didn't start running again competitively till her sophomore year of highschool.
From her sophomore to junior year in highschool she made huge strides and again from junior to senior year with an average highschool team and program.
What I was saying is the reason she isn't as a big house hold name is because she hasn't been on the national seen as much as other runners. Typically female runners show greater promise as at younger age but since she missed her freshmen year where she could get exposure to meets, how real training is, etc. it slowed her growth as a sophomore and even as a junior but when she hit it on all cylinders she cruised to NJ MOC title.
Coming into her senior in HS she wasn't one of the big names predicated to win the state title it was people like her current team Colette Richter, but as her senior season wore on you saw it clicking and she finished with a flurry of great results. Winning MOCs, setting the NJ record for Bowdin Park in NY State, and finishing in the top 10. The result being Wisconsin swooping in at the end.
Now if you look at her college career you see this similar pattern of hardwork and results from the improved coaching and not saying the highschool staff was bad but just saying its Wisconsin. Improved workouts with better teammates, and slight tweaks to the type of workouts as well as natural growth. Its just impressive. I hope that is more clear.

Yes, but they ran 9:23/3:00/2:57 for the finish, so a rabbited, faster start without the slower traffic the CR of 15:14 by end of the season is not at all a stretch for these two, and Disanza had something left from the looks of it (68.6 last 400, and even Sisson was sub-70 for the finish). And, Disanza led for all of the last 2000 after splitting the first half evening with Sisson.

Yah, but that 15:44 was not a top effort by Sissin, who just ran 2.4 5Ks on the roads without resting in 15:58 each. Sissen has obviously gotten much stronger this fall after her times stagnated a bit on the track for a couple years. I would not be surprised if Sissan runs under 15:10 outdoors, maybe even under 15:05. I agree that Cain could run 15:20 with specific preparation in the right race and perhaps as fast as 15:12.5, but there are just too many Americans who can thwack her but good at distances longer than the 15. And right now she needs to take 3-4 seconds off her 15 not to get thwacked (but good) in that event as well. I love American runners, and Emily Sissun.

Watching the video it's clear she's got great lean strong muscle. The kind of form good mAle runners have.
Also to the other poster discussing improvements from better teammates and coaching that is true. Probably now is a better time at Wisconsin for a female runner than previously. In the past three years the school has improved many if their facilities--better student athlete nutrition, better weight room, better academic support university wide, better study amenities university wide. 8-10 years ago, things were a bit primitive and unhealthy compared to now. A new coaching structure has also been in place now.

She beat her 3000m PR of 9:34 in the first 3000m of that race and beat it again in the last 3000m of that race. Probably finished the last 3000m somewhere between 9:04 to 9:08. Assuming that the first 2000m was not too slow.
Breaks Abby D's American college indoor record for 5000.

She beat her mile PR of 4:59 in the last 1609m of that race and came close to her 1500m PR of 4:20 in the last 1500m (she probably ran somewhere around 4:27 in that last 1500m).
Imagine this...Sisson started her collegiate career at Wisconsin, had she stayed and they had both right now, WOW:-)

I watched the video and she ran her last 3k in 9:04, that's down right insane
By that time alone she would make NCAA's in the 3k
She even crushed 3k PR, average mile pace was 4:57 and her mile PR is 4:59
It seems like this girl is making some very rapid improvements
In an article after NCAA's it said she got her way up to 90mpw, for a woman, that's quite a bit, but it's definitely paying off
As long as she can stay injury free I think she will have a good indoor outdoor season
She'll probably run a fast 3k, around 8:57, then I'd hope she would do the Payton Jordan 5k, maybe run around 15:08-09, but I'm not sure, she probably in really good peak form RN, and that BU indoor track is really fast, as fast as an outdoor track
Considering the fast times the W&M women ran last spring; I do believe that fast times result from Jill Miller being present on the coaching staff !!!
