Sarah Disanza just won the 5K at the Boston U Opener with a #B1G and #Badgers record of 15:20.57! What a run by Sarah!

#4 time, #3 performer All Time College. As a sophomore; maybe she should have put the hammer down a mile earlier as she made up 10 seconds on Avery in the last 650m.
Sarah Disanza, 15:20 to win BU 5000 over Sisson (15:21)

Those are both amazing times. I know of Sisson from her stellar high school career, but where did Disanza come from?

She just PR'd by 1:04... that is freaking awesome.

Thanks 26. I guess I could have looked that up...
I knew she was 2nd at ncaa XC, but that was the first I'd ever heard of her. I apparently have been out of the loop a little bit.
Her improvement is astonishing and her times very impressive. -
I guess people, who assumed the recent NCAA women's XC race was weak, because Disanza's PR was only 16:24, might want to reassess. Is Mary Cain in 15:20 shape right now?

No, but I don't think that's a fair comparison. It's base season. If Mary had had any desire to compete in NCAA XC, her training and racing would probably have gone differently. -
This is some background on her recruitment.

Yes, it isn't a fair comparison. However the same can be said for the people who just assumed Cain would have taken 1 or 2 at the NCAAs because Disanza took 2nd with a 5000 PR of 16:24. It's obviously a lot faster now. -
Does Sission still have eligibility?

Indoor only. -
Was anyone at this race? Does anyone have video of these amazing performances? Unreal that three of the top 4 athletes PR'ed by around a minute and even Sisson PR'ed by 20 seconds. Would love to see this race!

Wow, a year and a half after running her HS 1600 PR of 4:39, she more than triples the distance at a faster pace. Shades of Abby D!

check yo math -
It was a lap short.

Cain is never going to run 15:20. She might be physically capable of it someday, maybe, bit that's doubtful and there's no reason for her to run an event in which she'll just get badly whooped. If she sticks to the 8/15, she'll make her mark one day, you can bet on that.

Not my math...my keystroke. Her PR was 4:59 -
@Badger_Track: Watch Sarah Disanza's record breaking run from yesterday as she broke the #Badgers and #B1G 5K record http://t.co/ETF5sFOUTH

She was really only picking up the sport again as a sophmore in higschool and this summer she changed the quality of her mileage getting better value. Again it proves working smarter not necessarily just harder with good coaching can provide gains. She grew up training in a tough area of NJ in term of hills and weather. As a fellow person from Sussex County and a former XC runner she is making us all very proud, she almost beat my P.R. today.
The other dude is right, Mary Cain is really gonna make her mark 800/1500 unless Ajee Wilson another Jersey standout has something to say about that. -
I didn't realize indoor season started so early. In CA we don't have indoor season so this is just weird. I'm used to cross training then training resuming in January for an April debut.
