Running shirtless

YES! I finally ran without a shirt today (didnt read this post first) - I was up to 250# 2 yrs ago. Im at 202 and could probably get to 185 being 6ft 2. 85* and 71% humidity today. It was nice being without a shirt. I drove around without a shirt and even that felt weird. Ive been running barefoot on and off for a year, but this is my first bare chested run since as a kid. Weird.

55 and the shirt is gone. Met 2 of my last 3 girlfriends without the shirt. If I lived in Thailand or the Caribbean I would be banging 9s and 10s daily.

Maybe you should have held onto those insecurities and continues to run with shorts on.

I'm 55 and lose the shirt when it's 70ish or hotter. I dont really care what people think about it.

There is one small problem however. The park I run at has some guys that like guys and even though I'm a sagging, wrinkly, nearly bald headed old fuk I still have a problem from time to time.

Like yesterday. this guy on a bike almost ran me over. I said to myself, not out loud, "wake up" Apparently he read my lips amd said to me "take it easy" as he rode by. I didn't respond. I get on the other side of the park and here comes the loser again the opposite way I was going. He says "let me explain". I said "no explanation necessary" and kept running. Now the fukker turns his bike around and pulls up next to me and starts telling me why he's a moron. I said I didn't want to hear it. He continues and say "you know I run up here too (never seen the guy in 20 years running there) and when I see another guy running with his shirt off...." I'm getting creeped out now and I starting raising my voice telling I didn't give a shid and told him to go fuk himself. He starts making threats. I called him a fukking loser and told him to go fuk himself and his mother too. By now he's turned around going the other way. I loop around the back of the park and about another mile on guess who's coming around the corner? Yep, the flaming you know what that cant take no for an answer. He starts in about his mother and threatens to go to the police. I said "go ahead, there right up ahead" Then called him a fukking f-you know what" and go on my way. Anyway I got home and decided to call the police to see if the loser contacted them. He hadn't but I'm sure I'll see this same fuk when I run this afternoon. Some of these creeps just dont know that no means no.

I rarely wore a shirt when it got over 60 degrees. Now, I always do and I noticed most guys do too.

I'm a little self conscious just because I'm in my 50's and teach in the town I live in.

Years ago, I'd run shirtless because materials weren't as good a they are today, and my shirts would get heavy with sweat on hot days. Modern technical shirts are much better, and I find a light colored shirt is cooler *and* it protects me from sunburn. I wear a hat when I run for the same reason. Neither modesty nor ego have anything to do with whether I wear a shirt or a hat.

You mean, people actually wear clothes when they run in the summer time? In my neck of the woods, we run completely buff on the clothing optional running trails. It is a wonderful freeing feeling. Once you try it you'll never go back.

I live in DC and run without a shirt pretty much everyday when it is hot out. I probably wouldn't if I wasn't in good shape though. Fortunately, around the time it starts getting hot enough to run shirtless is when I am losing the last of the winter pounds.

I have noticed that very few people in DC race without a shirt on. In my old city almost all of the faster runners raced shirtless during the summer.

I am actually cooler running with a shirt on, especially after sweating for a bit.

tech shirts replacing cotton has reduced the necessity of topless running.

I can't imagine being so a tight @ssed and neurotic that I would wear a shirt while running in hot weather.

What the h#ll is wrong with you people? Half the fun of running is that you can toss on a pr of running shorts, socks and shoes and run half nekkid through your town.

Get over yourself, take off the shirt.. you'll feel better- trust me.
