I think a lot of issues could be removed by amending the Amateur Sports Act to reflect the age of professionals. USATF doesn't need Nike's money, and removing Nike's $10 million would simply return USATF's budget to where it was 5 years ago. The obsessive-compulsive nuts like Phil Knight seem to need USATF to make it appear to the broad market that they are running.

There should be conflict of interest rules to prohibit a company that is sponsoring athletes from also sponsoring the national federation.

Nike and Penn had a tiff about something last year so Nike didn't provide many top athletes and didn't send the Kenyan team this year.

Just 4 teams in that DMR.

Nike usually sends two USA teams plus Kenya and Morocco, I think.

Nike provides the NFL uniforms but many athletes are sponsored by different apparel companies.
