My thoughts are it doesn't really matter if she ended up winning of just passing Hasay and then dying. She was out of control out there and while I didn't see the alleged elbows she threw, I saw her run up the back of people and cut right threw Hasays stride from behind her.

Hasay had no idea that was coming and it took any momentum she had out of her. You can't do that. You can get around her and then run your butt off, but you can't plow through people and then expect to get away with it because you had a blazing finish and won the race. I'm sorry she had cancer, but that doesn't matter either. Doesn't matter if her dog or husband passed away the night before. When she's on the track she has to play by the rules.

I watch track to see people race. Not to see people trip each other. In the same way that I find Merga distasteful for repeatedly shoving people on the track, I find it unappealing when any runner willfully or unwillfully impedes another.

The winner of a race should be the individual who runs best. Not the individual who runs best through elbows, clips, and shoves.

Do I think Grunewald is the real winner tonight? Yes.

But do I also think she should be penalized for repeatedly making contact that impeded other runners? Yes.

Just because she is the winner and would have won anyways does not mean that she should be exempt from this.

As someone who has raced Gabe multiple times over the years I am glad to see that a file has been protesting. People may say that contact is to be expected racing and it is. But Gabe races dirty. It is not as obvious on the sidelines as on the track. I have had several occasions where I have been tugged, pushed and purposely (or so it seems) pushed off track/cut off by her. She does not wait for openings but rather forces her way through people pushing, cutting off and tripping people to get where she wants. I have raced TONS in "elite" circuit races and without a doubt, she is the common denominator when it comes to unnecessary and rough contact in races - and more than the usual expected contact. I am NOT The only one...we all know that she initiates contact and not in the accidental-its-a-race-and-we-are-all-racing-close-together kind of way. Don't forget she was also DQed and before being re-instated 2 years ago at USA (Olympic Trials) as well. It is NOT a coincidence that she seems to be involved on multiple occasions. People will be quick to jump on the anti-Al Sal / Jordan H. wagon but she needs to be called out on it because it is not a one-off accidental occurrence but her usual race "tactics".

Hill did the same to Lagat. Rupp pushed Hill and Hill pushed Lagat. They didn't f each other and it didn't impede them. If anything it helped.

GG won after screwing other racers over.

I'm in agreement with the crowd that Hasay didn't earn a trip to worlds, but Grunewald's run is another thing entirely. Unintentional mild contact is fine. Doing the equivalent of plowing through other runners during a race isn't. Sure, every runner is in it to win, but there's still a duty to remain respectful to the people racing around you. Maybe I need to watch a replay, but Grunewald deliberately put herself in positions where she ended up clipping/pushing/elbowing several runners.

I disagree with this statement completely. Are you sure you've been in the races you claim?

I was just about to bring up the Olympic trials protest too.

Didn't see the foul today so I can't comment but the foul in 2012 was pretty blatant

Running is meant to be a no-contact sport. That's just the way it is. We run races to see who comes out fastest. Not to see who comes out fastest after multiple people have been stepped on, shoved, pushed off the track, etc. If you want to see people pounding each other, tune into MMA or something.
