Woody Allen did not marry his step-daughter, that's another myth. Woody and Mia were never married, Woody never slept over at Mia's house, once. When Woody was over he usually only spent time with their mutual kids, Soon-Yi(sp) was an adopted daughter of Mia's from her previous marriage to Andre Previn. Mia started asking Woody to get to know Soon-Yi...that's how things got started.
Read the link above. It cleared my mind of a lot of myths and mis-information about the case.
I read most of the article. It cleared up a few things. Certainly sounds like your typical vindictive ex whatever. It does seem very unlikely that while going through this split up with a whole house full of people with 5 minutes to spare he rushed upstairs to touch his daughter. Along with the fact they keep bringing this whole thing up again and again certainly suggests an evil vindictive woman who brainwashed her kids. It also seems that she feels so guilty about it that she feels a need to continually convince people that it really did happen.

Dylan Farrow's most detailed account of the 1992 incident returned the spotlight to the original police investigation of Allen. The handling of the investigation was criticized after Litchfield County state attorney Frank S. Maco said in a press conference that he believed there was "probable cause" to charge Allen but decided against prosecution partly to avoid a traumatic trial for the young girl.
So the State's attorney in charge (it seems) of the investigation back in the early 90s thought there was probably cause to charge Woody.
But did not charge Allen as he did not want to traumatize the girl.
Somehow I don't think the average Joe would have skated if there was probably cause to indict.

It is tragic that after 20 years a story engineered by a vengeful lover resurfaces after it was fully vetted and rejected by independent authorities. The one to blame for Dylan’s distress is neither Dylan nor Woody Allen.

Thank you. You gave me a strong challenge but with your inspiration and coaching I have managed to make my dreams reality.
I think (1) the relationship with Soon-Yi is creepy even if she wasn't his stepdaughter and (2) I have no way of deciding the truth of Dylan Farrow's accusations, and neither does anyone else.
With Dylan Farrow, it's on par with LRC's doping poll. No one has any basis for saying one way or the other whether 95% of the people in the poll doped and it's pure speculation. With a couple of people like Mary Decker, there's at least evidence that can be debated, but it's mostly speculation.
You might as well ask if you believe in alien life forms. In the absence of real evidence, you can create whatever make-weight arguments you want.
With Woody Allen films, I like the early, funny ones.

In contentious family break ups, all kinds of craziness can ensue. It would not be the first time that someone has egged on a child to make a false report of abuse in order to get the upper hand in a custody fight. Children can invent tales of abuse in order to justify their emotional pain of being separated from a care giver in a divorce. My sister claims that our father abused (not sexually) when we were children. The abuse? Tickling. She eventually estranged herself from him and would not let him see her children. The funny thing is that my father lost it with me one time and gave me a pretty nasty spanking when I visited him. It was pretty close to abuse. As a parent, I now realize it was just one of those days when your kid pushes all the wrong buttons and you do something you regret. But the difference was that I was able to maintain a relationship with my father and my sister could not due to her own personal issues. The point is that with the right motivation, something that is very innocent (tickling) can be turned into a claim of abuse in order to match the narrative set out by parents as the reason for losing contact with a parent.

Here is a thought experiment for the Woody defenders. Substitute "The creepy, squirrely guy that lives up the street from me. He married his adopted daughter and his ex-wife's daughter claims he molested her too". I doubt you would be defending that guy.

Here's a better one for you. Imagine a world in which you were capable of saying the words, "I have no f'ing idea". Because here's news for you - You have no f'ing idea about what did or did not go on between Woody Allen and underage girls. You also have no f'ing idea about his relationship with Soon-Yi.
I know it is difficult, but give it a shot. Go sit in front of a mirror and repeat those words over and over again - "I have no f'ing idea. I have no f'ing idea..." Do it enough and you might start to grow the maturity required to live a life of integrity where you don't judge people regarding situations where, (ready for this?), you have no f'ing idea.
