See the thing is, even though Bekele's time wasn't lightning fast, the way they ran the race with huge negative splits and all of that surging made it really pretty close to mid-26's in effort. If he had closed on even splits then maybe you could compare him to Riley (although 56 vs 52 high had he finished it in) is a huge difference. So basically he could've run like 26:40 and closed in 53 because a 27:05 with those crazy splits is worth more like 26:40 even paced.
What about mottram. HAve you guys forgotten that he closed in 2.26 last km and 55 last lap in london. Dont think his coach was getting him ready for the London GP[quote]WangJFan wrote:
