Blake Haney is going to run 8:35! He's not under the radar but just putting it out there!
The three frosh runners from SoCal (Austin Tamagno, Philip Rocha, Jake Ogden) will make huge jumps this year!

Best runner to not break 4:25, 1:57, or 9:30???? Who will make a Jake Hurysz jump?????
Watch for Levi Thomet of Kodiak AK. Same high school, coach as Trevor Dunbar.
Nobody outside of the NW has heard of him but 9:11/4:11 as a sophomore.

What about more under the radar like guys who arent even the best runners in their own state? Crossley was unheard of and Saarel was good(4:16/9:01) but not even close to people's watchlist nationally.
Speak for yourself.
I had him US#20 going into XC last fall, and Bill Meylan (Tullyrunners) had him US#32.

Thomet vs. Maton on October 12 could be an interesting match-up of under-rated NW guys going at it...
I'm calling a stud(s) from NC will come out
I agree that Haney is likely to break 4 this year and probably could get well into the 8:30s.
Macy Heinz. Won 400m, 800m and 1600m at state meet as an 8th grader. Huge stride, natural tactician, just runs as fast as necessary to win.
Obviously known in home state but, as best as I can tell, the name has never been mentioned on this message board, so qualifies as under the radar.

Nick Elswick from Chardon, Ohio. 14:28, 9:00, 4:18
Probably this guy. a 14:28 5000 for a high school junior is big time.
The 4:18 mile pr might worry some coaches. Its pretty slow for a 9:00 3200 runner.
He has pedigree, but he's well under the radar by the PR standards you guys have established as worthy; Olin Hacker (now a junior) is proving to be the fastest of Tim Hacker's kids. His sophomore track PR's aren't in the league of some of the guys you've been talking about (4:25,9:27), but already in XC this fall, he's beaten the course record in his first race, and I'm told that he would have broken the course record by 10-15 seconds in his second race (he tied it in 15:45) if not for going off course---a course that Gabe Jennings had won on twice and didn't even own the course record for. In both races, he beat the kid who was third in state last year. I'm pretty certain he'll finish his junior XC season in the top-10 all-time in Wisconsin. Before all is said and done, it wouldn't surprise me if he finishes 2nd all-time behind Chris Solinsky (and ahead of his dad) as the best male HS runner from Wisconsin.
There are 2 studs from Maryland about to break out this year. Just watch...
Some no name junior from Illinois last year ran 14:15 (3 mile), 9:03 and 4:11 in the mile. I see him winning a national championship.
That IL kid from york?
I believe you are talking about Patrick Perrier?
There are a few kids from West Virginia who will be way up there!
Louis Colson (VA)-Beat Sean McGorty in the indoor states champs 2 mile last winter. 4:14/9:06
Also keep an eye out for Ryan McGorty (Sean's little brother, he's a junior), if not this year than certainly next year. Just opened up with a 15:11 3-mile and looks poised to make a big jump this year.
Ryan Thomas (VA)- Senior this year, ran 2:27 indoors for 1000 as a sophomore and struggled with injury last year. Healthy now and looks to be ready to make the jump to the elite high school level. 1:54/2:27/4:12
Connor Mcmillan from American Fork. His track times are kind of decieving, but he just ran 14:47 for 3 miles with a big negative split.
Mary Cain
Geremia Lizier-Zmudzinski. Oregon 6A 1,500 Champion (3:53.7) as a sophomore two years ago, but injured last year. Injury free and fit, could take the 6A XC title over Central Catholic's Kyle Thompson (winner two years ago as a soph.)
