Yes. Rupp is that good. Plus that race was really slow, so your 'only 6 seconds back' comment is pretty dumb.

No, it isn't dumb. There's a field full of elite athletes, only one of whom apparently was stricken with bronchitis, and that guys beats all but 6 of them? We saw him run against Gebrhiwet this winter over 3000m, when he had his a&& handed to him .. yet you think that over 5000m, Geb's strongest event, Rupp, sick with a respiratory illness, smokes him? Do you know what bronchitis is?

Rupp's very good. He's a world class guy. But he wasn't the 2nd best 5000m guy in the world last year. Or close to it. Which is what the person I responded to is effectively claiming.

Like I said, yes, Rupp is that good. You can't use Gebrhiwet as an example because he was injured prior to the games and was not in top form.

Rupp was barely a step behind Farah last year in almost every race they ran together, including that 1500. How is it possible that Galen is nearly as fast as Farah at 1500 and 10,000, but significantly slower at 5,000? I have a hard time believing that.

No one breaks 13, 53 second last lap for the victor!...who knows who?

Lagat is a better runner in my opinion. Rupp has beaten him once but I don't think he will again this year. Let's see who's right tomorrow.

umm, did you miss the PRE 5000 last year? Rupp kinda worked some very fast 5000 guys and ran one of the fastest times ever on american soil over that distance.

He was surely capable of sub 12:50 last summer, just wasn't in the right meet at the right time. hell his 26:48 is a few years old now and he's a MUCH better runner now

When he also got beat by Koech, who then got soundly smoked by both Gebremeskel and Gebrhiwet in Paris? So those results alone indicate Rupp was not 2nd only to Farah, but 5th, behind Farah, Geb2, Geb3, and Koech.

He's a great runner .. but he's never been the 2nd best 5000m runner in the world. Which was, essentially, the contention I responded to. When you can show that he was, do let me know, OK?

If Mo were healthy I'd give him the edge, but as is, I give this one to Rupp.
