Centro makes 3x that and Wheating makes 5x that. FACT.

Nike way over pays which is fine and good for the sport. If they make you an offer you should take it, rarely does another company match or exceed Nike's original offer and Nike often takes their offer off of the table. Meb got lucky, A.J. Acosta (granted not in the same league) made a huge mistake. Leo should have taken the $85K if that is a real number. There are always bonuses written in for making national teams, Oly teams and medaling at those events. Leo should have made some nice bonus money last year and should be OK for a while....but then what? Asics for $55k?

He just needed to replace Nike's current golden goose significant other -- the non-running, non-competitive, 53.xx 400mH hurdling, college drop-out, Nike contract-pulling boyfriend to get a decent contract; or start dating one of their other single golden geese to get an unearned running contract. Nike hates to have their multi-million dollar money makers dating scrubs.

Seems like the thing to do is move to Oregon and not be a Nike outsider.

Manzano beating the golden boy Centro at the Trials and the Games may be frowned upon.

Maybe he would have gotten more money if he were 4th and Centro won Silver.

Look, we know Centro signed for over $1M... the $300K is his YEARLY salary, not bonuses and incentives. Ditto for the other guys, basically their salary/stipend - performance clauses not included from the SOURCE(s).

When European (White) settlers came to Mexico/Central America, there were a lot of people who looked like Leo (Mayan) already there.

Its a race dude. Maybe you don't call it "Mexican", but its a race.

Fact: On average there is more variation between two random people than two random people from the same 'race'. It appears that 'race' is merely a phenotype (i.e. appearance - no wonder only bozos who judge books by covers believe in this race shiz). Ethnicity is the whole cultural/social thing and is actually learned only by growing up in a society.

I would've thought the highest paid were Rupp, Centro and Manzano, for they make the Olympics and win medals at OG, WC etc.

Only heard of the others on the Letsrun forum, but then again, this whole shoe thing and college/uni thing is totally foreign to me as a Brit. Things are all way amateur still over here, I don't know if it's different for pros. Sounds like the only big pay-checks are for big ad campaigns/company sponsorships (thinking Ennis and Radcliffe here). The rest survive on national lottery funding to enable full time training.
