I actually think it would be great for him to go train with Jager. We need more of that in the U.S., not guys ducking each other. Wheating and Brown thrive off training together. You need that guy to push you in practice. I have been friends with many of the guys I ran against, but that does not mean that I wanted to beat them any less. Create a steeple dynasty in Portland and watch the success roll in.
He's on the entry list for the steeple in Birmingham. That's going to be rough. Two steeples in 4 days.

By the same token, I bet you have not trained with a bunch of guys you were racing against but that didn't mean you were ducking them. To say that guys who don't train together are ducking each other is just silly. I also would not use Wheating and Brown as 2012 success stories.

Rowlands would be decent fit, but nobody to train with.
Best steeplers after than train by themselves (that is why we have stunk in the event).

I would gladly go train with a bunch of guys that I was going to race against. I would have someone pushing me every workout. Of course, you need to structure workouts individually, especially at the pro level, but just look at the success of the NJNY*TC this year. All of those guys constantly raced against each other and set new PRs. Does not make them any less competitive, maybe even more.
I thought Radcliffe had to be your agent if you were with Schumacher/Nike? I think Donn is considering Rowlands. I just hope wherever Donn goes, he doesn't change much in his training. He is truly blue collar; he would benefit more from individualized coaching than a group of 5k/10k/marathon. Needs to get his 1500 down to 336 in my opinion.
This is good thinking. There are two different coaching philosophies. When all that matters is that SOMEONE in your group is good, you fire a lot of bullets to get one to hit the target. If a particular athlete wants to ensure his success he needs a coach that focuses on athletes individually. Schumacher and Salazar leave a bunch of debris behind with every one success story. It doesn't appear that Cabral's former coaches worked that way. They had pretty high success rates with the guys they worked with.

Could Coach Vig help with 1500 time coming down and Cabral stays at Princeton?
I think Jerry would be mistake just because Donn is already running the huge mileage; that's the driving force behind training philosophy. The exception is Jäger who is probably our country's biggest natural talent by far.
Needs a more personalized Coach.
I was thinking stick with Dolan and head down the pike to Philly but Philly definitely not in the Northwest so looks like Vig and Dolan have been crossed off the list.
