Yes, that's the point!!!!! It was before Houston and the poster is claiming that the coaching change affected her performance on Sunday. You guys are DUMB!

I don't see why you have to be so angry about this. I say that she hasn't had enough time with Schumacher. You disagree. Apparently she disagrees with me also. Her performance suggests that I'm right. No reason to resort to personal attacks here folks.
Her performance doesn't suggest you are right. Her performance suggests that she'll always be a 2:24-2:25 marathoner.
I think we're all being a little harsh here.
1:13 isn't exactly a walk in the park for these ladies. Who's to say that 1:13:00 feels so much easier than a 1:11:00, and that they should have been able to cover the 5:10 mile pace surges so easily as a result?
A lot of us here have run a marathon, and I can tell you that there is no difference to me in terms of pain between splitting 1:25 and 1:28:30 at the halfway point. And my differential is 4% while the 73/71 differential is 2%!! I think that discrepancy adjusts for the argument that they are much better runners / more marathon inclined than me.
We can go about banging our heads against the wall all day long and none of us will convince the other person. So I'll just end my contributions to this thread by explaining how I come to my conclusion that she hasn't had enough time with Jerry. Coaching changes take time to adjust to. Doubly so for the marathon. That's my opinion. You guys disagree. Fine.
In 2008, Flanagan got bronze in the 10,000 running 30:22. Then she split with Cook and went with Jerry in April 2009. In June she ran 31:23 at the US champs getting outkicked by Yoder-Begley. In Berlin she finished a disappointing 14th while Amy finished 6th. After the race she said, "I'm making some changes to be a better runner and I can't expect to make as big a change as I'm making and always perform really well." "I feel like a freshman all over again. I'm learning some new skills and I'm honing them. I believe it's going to come." Jerry's system is always tough on newcomers. But in September 2010, 16 months after the switch, she ran 2 seconds slower than Kastor's half marathon American record. 2 months later she got second in the NYC marathon. She had early disappointments with Schumacher but she stuck with it and it proved successful. Again, you all disagree that her London race was successful but she ran 13 seconds off her PB on a slow course. I'll leave her performance at that.
In April, Goucher will most likely be running the Boston Marathon. At that time she will have been working with Jerry for 17 months.
