At least someone knows what they are talking about on this board. More people should actually learn the scientifics of it all before they start doing dumb stuff like this.
yes. that actually looks good.
But its the only product like it I have found. And the site sucks.
This subject came up on this board about 4 years ago.
800 meter runners did benefit from bicarbonate loading. About 1 or 2 seconds (a big deal at that distance) if I recall.
Despite the advantage it was deemed impractical.
One problem was the timing of the dosage. The other was explosive diarrhea.
I found two previous threads on the subject.
Timothy Noakes talks about soda loading in his "Lore of Running". He says there are several studies with mixed results, not always showing a benefit. He also mentions that it "clearly contravenes the regulations controlling athletics", and that sodium bicarbonate and citrate may be added to the list of banned substances, and also mentions the laxative side effect that is common.
In horse racing, loading the horse up on baking soda before the race is referred to as "milkshaking" and is a common doping violation.

At one time, if urine pH was outside a "normal" range it would lead to a charge of masking. I think now the techniques are sophisticated enough that the analysis go "see through" this method and detect substances.
Sodium citrate seems to work as well, if not better, than bicarb and with fewer side effects.
the advantage that you might gain is lost when you have to drop and squat to spray a load on the side of the road or sprint off the track behind the bleachers, assuming that you can actually get your shorts down before the dam breaks. if you think that it might only be gas, think again before trying to do a controlled release.

1. You get intense abdominal cramps which can lead to
2. The trots
This happens if you ingest enough sodium bicarbonate to be effective.
But go ahead and try. Everybody is different.
You could enter the trotters race, at the Kentucky Derby.
