Westly Keating: A hard worker!!!

If I were Westley, I'd defend myself. Seriously, if you guys were accused of something you didn't do, wouldn't you be at least a little bit irate. I would. I would do what Radcliffe did and force an EPO test to prove my innocence.

I think time will tell. If the story of the anonymous person is true, Westly will be found out. Fred's pharmacy should be doing some investigating right about now due to their $6000 loss. Assuming they take 'legal action' (not to overuse a term thrown around so loosely on here), something definitive will come of that. I'm curious, what do you guys think should be the best way to handle this?

The real crime is the guy who didn't get to go to nationals. The guy who trained his ass off, and whose place was taken by a cheater (if it is true).

I'd like to see a reply by the coaches at UT. I think it speaks volumes that they haven't said anything. I know if one of my former athlete's was openly accused in such a fashion, I would dispel the rumor. Honestly, many runners in the NCAA have heard of this. A lot of people visit these boards. I would be quick to defend him. Maybe there are other resons why they have not come to his defense... I sure am curious.

An as far as anonymous... I couln't imagine this fellow not being anonymous. This is some heavy shit that he has contemplated and had been forced to hide for over a year now.

Lastly, Westly is a great guy. Very nice fellow, and has had a truly hard life. I, too, am concerned with his safety. I hope he wises up and realizes that it isn't worth the risk.

I'm not defending the coaches or the athlete, but here are some reasons why someone would not defend themselves on an online message board.

1)Maybe they have been at ISU for a few days preparing for the meet

2)Maybe they don't read letsrun.com? For crying out-loud, not every runner in the country logs on to this thing!

3)Maybe they don't even read the stuff written on the internet. My college coach(Duane Vandenbusche at WSC) doesn't even know how to send email by himself. Not everyone is computere literate.

Just some reasons why a person may not respond to posts on the internet.

yeah, i doubt they would respond on this forum. But I sure as hell would defend my athlete in some manner. But the rumor is large enough by now to merit some sort of defense on some level.

I sympathize with Westley and the accusations that have been set forth against him, however, i do realize where his opposers are coming from. I mean wow...a 3rd place finish at regionals! How did he do this? Hmm....i think logic calls it working out and improving....i could be wrong...Who are you neways...are you the 5th place guy at regionals that didnt make it to nationals? im sorry better luck next time man, this doesnt mean u have to set forth such harsh accusations without evidence.. It is a common fact that people pass out at races..Its called getting tired my friend...It happens when u give it ur 100 percent..i have passed out at races and needed oxygen to revive me...does this mean im doping? i think not i didnt even place buddy...

You have no idea about this kid's personal background .. you have no idea why he isnt still running at UT and why he moved back home...YOU ONLY ASSUME THE WORSE..

In case you haven't realized it by now, cheaters are everywhere. And it isn't that hard to get ahold of EPO. There are TONS of sites out there dedicated to steroids and bodybuilding, and a few of them have sources who carry EPO. Many of them even tell you how to use it.

$439 for 30,000iu is enough to last you a full season if you shoot 1000iu every other day (60 days total). Or you could do 2000 iu every other day for 30 days, that would get you the best results.

Or you could just steal it from the pharmacy you work at.

Now the playing field will be level because everyone can get EPO!

What did the UT Austin coach say? Because if he gave a no comment, then I think it's pretty clear.

If a person says "no comment" or anything of the sort, they've got something to hide. No one innocent ever cops out like that.

I have no idea if UT has been contacted or not. But the fect that there is no response whatsoever out there (official or unofficial) on the subject, may alone shed some light. Someone earlier said that the coach wasn't talking (to them). If they are a reliable source, then I feel that there's your answer.

But truthfully, who knows. This is all conjecture and there is nothing we can do about it. Maybe all the talk will stimulate an investigation. All I know is, if that I were Westly Keating, I would DEMAND an EPO test to clear the table. Or at least a hematocrit test. Those are VERY cheap. After all, the EPO test is blood and urine right? Well, if his hematocrit is over 50%, then that's all you need. Like I said, time will tell.
