SIde-Note: As someone who appreciates this ad campaign, I will be purchasing some Pearl Izumi shorts to support a company that isn't succumbing to the desires of the American Lard that has come to dominate the running scene.

I may be missing something, but the comments that I saw seemed positive regarding the ads--although the PI post seemed to suggest they'd gotten some negative response.

I'm not a fast runner, but I don't have any problem with the ads. They're edgy, funny, in-your-face, nothing milquetoast about them--which I find refreshing. I enjoy training and racing, despite my lack of speed, and when I race, I want to do as well as I possibly can, even if that would look like "hobby-jogging."

Haha...maybe Pearl Izumi should spend more time improving its crappy running shoes, and less time trying to provoke "debate."

Why do some people think they are clever by pointing this out? We all know it's an ad campaign and a company is trying to appeal to decent runners. When people point out that they like the ad campaign, they are saying that they have been successfully marketed to (although most still won't buy P.I. shoes, so it's not much of a success).

Right... I don't buy their shoes. Have bought some of their clothes, but in clothes I'm not that big on brands--if I like the fit, comfort, look and price, I'll buy regardless of the brand. Still, the ads are entertaining and if they successfully marketed to me, congrats to them. They can now keep on entertaining me with their ads. Win-win situation!
