That gap between 4 and 5 in all OK State's races this year doesn't bode well for the big race.
I'd definitely pencil in Oklahoma as a top 5 contender. Right now, in no particular order, I got OK State, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Colorado, and Indiana (just because I'm a Hoosier).

He went 13:25 in a championship race that year, asking over/under on 13:15 isn't the craziest of questions. Yeah, predicting him sub 13:10 is idiotic but the guy can flat out run and do amazing things when healthy and threads like that one are fun.

Yes, it was. Since the calendar has moved forward 2½ years and he still hasn't run that fast, I think it is safe to say that German's most devoted fans weren't very knowledgeable. Predicting that he would break the American-born collegiate record as a true freshman was ridiculous, and those who actually suggested 13:10 (or even scaring sub-13:00) were naive, at best.

Ummm...he's been injured and/or anemic for the past 2.5 years. Pretty sure that performances (or lack thereof) while not healthy are not a very good indication of talent level nor of what was reasonable to speculate without prior knowledge of impending health issues.
Predicting a guy would go from 13:25 at 18 to 13:15 within a few years is crazy?
Those times are slower than the ACC times.

How is that ridiculous? He clearly had faster than 13:25 in him his freshman year. He probably was that fit in the winter when he ran 3:55 solo and 7:47. The kid gets one full year of Rupp-level training and he's under 13:00 for sure.
Anyone know the shoes that German ran in? Doesn't look like anything I've seen before.

Oklahoma ran generally together but did not run the consolidated pack that Wisconsin has used the last two races. The gaps were 12, 9, 3, and 4, for a total of 28 seconds. That is reasonably tight but not the 1.8 Wisconsin used at the adidas Invite.
Also, if they run like this at nationals there will be a lot of guys ahead of Farrel and especially Manilafasha and Erassa/Clarkson/and Stubs. That they have seven strong runners, however gives them some opportunities for guys to step up like we saw last year.
Does anyone know how the 3/4/5/6/7 guys do as you go from 8 to 10k. The Oklahoma guys will probably gain from that extension from what I have heard?

I should have added that GF answered essentially all of the questions today. I do not think there is much uncertainty as to his contribution to the team effort at NCAAs. It will not make too much difference if he is first or fourth or seventh (especially since several will be non-scoring runners). The outcome for the 4/5/6 guys is crucial for them (i.e., to repeat last year's great finish).

Hard to see GF being much of a threat at the very top at NCAAs. From the looks of the race, he and Colby had to go pretty close to all out to put 7 seconds on Lutz. I'd guess high single digits.
With Girma out and the rest of the 'Boys apparently not able to keep up with GF and CL it looks like OK State won't really be much of a threat to Wisco.
