Well Uceny has been at Mammoth since 2009 and graduated from Cornell in 2007 so she has had time but just not the results until recently. So I still assert that Jenny B.S. is the more consistant athlete.
I wish Morgan the best and hope she has the fire to continue. But my money continues to be on Jenny as a sure bet for the Olympic team in 2012. The rest of the spots are up for grabs.
If by consistent you mean flunking for first year as a pro then I would have to agree.
I also agree she will make the Olympic team.. In the steeple. She doesn't stand a chance against Uceny and a fully fit Pierce, Rowbury or Wurth Thomas in the 1500
I might add I am greatly looking forward to her having her ass handed to her by the actual best in the world in Brussels. Obviously if shes not too busy talking about how great she is
Nothing in life is a sure bet. Where was B.S. last year? Who expected Bolt to get DQ'd from the 100m this year?, etc., etc., etc.
The USA is fortunate to have a deeply talented field of ladies who, when healthy, can all compete well at 1500 meters.
All three spots on the Olympic team in 2012 are up for grabs and you are naive to think otherwise.

Ha Ha. Total B.S you are funny. But I disagree. I think jenny B.S. is a superior athlete (and she will heartily concur!) to any of the ones you named. And I love K. Wurth Thomas's guts and go get em attitude. But Jenny Simpson is simply a more complete runner with the mind-set for world competition.
The other athletes are good runners and the best of the U.S. but sadly they will never be a factor on the world scene. Jenny B.S. has a chance as displayed recently. Anna Pearce is extremely inconsistent and a bit delusional in that she thinks she can make a mark on the 1500 any more than she did in steeple. And I think Jenny B could make the olympic team in either steeple or 1500 which ever she puts her mind to.
But I am a believer in Jennys ability, not in her less than humble proclamations of her greatness!

She has won major 800m races, has a 1:58 PR, and has broken 4 minutes in the 1500. How is she delusional to think she's a 1500m runner?

Why? Because I remember clearly when she bombed in the steeple in international competition, in an over-emotional (and tearfilled) interview with Flotrack she said something along the lines of "I never want to be in a competition and she the people sprinting for the tape and I am out of this far back and I know I will never be there in the steeple but the 1500 is another story blah blah blah" I was just being dramatic when I said 'delusional" but you get the picture. Anna Willard Pearce will NEVER and I will say it again NEVER be a world player in track and field in innternational competition. She can play around in the U.S. and be one of the better sprinters (albeit inconsistent0 in the U.S. but that is the extent of it. And I believe she is deluding herself if she thinks otherwise. Sure she has a contract and she can enjoy her little run as a pro but she certainly will never become a world or Olympic medalist. Mark my words!!!

How will they/have they never be a factor on the world scene? The US top 1500 women have beaten pretty much everyone in the world at one point or another.
Shannon has a bronze medal from Worlds 2009, Morgan is about to win the Diamond League 1500 series, Anna has run sub4 for the 1500 and sub2 for the 800 and won the NY diamond, Paris diamond, and IAAF Bank World Athletic Final in the 800.
You are correct that Rowbury had one good season. But where has she been the last 2 years? No place that's where. And Anna Pearce, has she ever won a medal in a chamionship meet? No. She has not. And I do not believe she ever will. Maybe not for lack of wishing and trying but I just believe people should be realistic regarding their talent, ability, and potential. If she was going to "break out" she would have done it a while ago.
And I didn't say that she was delusional that she was a 1500 runner. I said she was delusional if she thought she was a contender on the world t&f stage.
Rowbury has superior PR's than B.S. at 800, 3000 and 5000 meters. She was ranked top 10 in the world at 1500 meters for the past 3 years. That's where she has been.
Pierce and W.T. have superior PR's at 800 and 1500 meters

The other athletes you name, especially Pearce seem to be emotionally driven and always ready with an excuse.
Kristin W.T. is all guts-and she has pushed her talent to the MAX but I just don't believe she can go any faster, regardless of how much facial strain she shows. I wish she could. I wish Anna had 1/2 the guts and will that Kristen does. But Jenny B.S. has the entire package IMO-and that is even with her obvious lack of humility and common sense.
Why is everyone making bold predictions and/or belittling our amazing Middle-Distance ladies.
Anna, Christin, Morgan, Jenny and Shannon are all world class, All have fast PRs and have at one point or another beaten just about everyone in the world.
Jenny just won the World Championships which is obviously incredible. She has to be a favorite to make the Olympic team next year but based on the current climate that is far from a guarantee.
These girls have the talent and if the stars align it is possible that they could sweep the medals in London. This would be unbelievable but I believe it could happen.
It is also possible that none of these 5 girls will ever medal at a world championships again. I hope that this isn't the case and since they all should have atleast few more good years in them.
Either way all of them are world class and their credentials as well as I'm sure their shoe contracts reflect that. I don't see any reason not to root for them.
The race at WC was slow and tactical, which played into her strength - a good finishing kick. Remember Fermin Cacho won in a similar fashion at the '92 Olympics on the men's side?

No way. Ask any elite if they'd rather have a long career of middling finishes in many big races, or a career mostly of subpar performances but one international (WC/OG) gold medal. No one dreams of becoming a 4-time WC/OG finalist. It's a great achievement, but it's not what you run for, not what you dream about. You dream about the "big win."
