Gay is one of the most focused athletes in the sport, has managed his career extremely well and come up big at both the Olympics and WCs, running huge PRs when it counts. Obviously his goal for the year was Daegu. If he says he can't run on it, he cant run on it. Thinking he should walk 100 meters in 60 seconds reflects what kind of person you are.
At least he started the event, which is more than we can say for Solinsky in the 10,000 and Wheating in the 800. They aren't injured, but just can't make up their minds and act professionally. Now THAT is bad for the sport.
Dude, tyson did NOT come up big in the olympics. He has never made it to an olympic final. As a matter of fact he was injured at the only olympics he's been to. You're thinking of either greene or gatlin that won an olympic title. But I can see what you're getting at. Tyson Gay works his butt off to get to where he is. It's a shame that he won't be able to compete at the WCs. We could possibly see a 1-2-3-4 sweep from jamaica.

This is a horrible idea. You would get two things:
1. Either backroom politics or the appearance of the same. Just imagine a Nike athlete being picked over a New Balance athlete that qualified in 3rd.
2. Selected runners who are not ready for competition returning and taking a slot deservedly earned by another athlete. Selected runner then is injured or underperforms taking potential medals away from the U.S. and opportunities away from deserving athletes.
