I think its the "curse of the 2mile record". It started with Lingren who ultimately just couldn't cope with life. Prefontaine, who ended up suffering the ultimate fate. Then came Nelson who just never got it right after high school. Next up is Virgin who did some remarkable things but who's personality never "won the crowd" and who had a near fatal car wreck. German Fernandez is now having issues that are continuing this curse.

Have any of you hobbyjogging high schoolers ever been INJURED? When you experience that, you will understand the time and effort involved getting back in the kind of shape needed to run record setting performances.
This happens in all sports. A star gets injured and people can't understand why he is not the greatest anymore. A good rule after an injury is that it will take you a year to get back and probably another year to make improvements if it is a serious injury.
I'm going to assume that the "Lady" part of your handle is referring to the fact that, while sporting the "tackle and rod" reminiscent of most males, you actually act like a little girl, posting about how disappointed you are in some college kid.
I'll tell you who is the most disappointed: your girlfriend, and she's disappointed with your performance in the sack lately. Maybe it's because you have to picture yourself with German just to get it up - and then when you did think about German you jizzed in your pants. I'm old school. To me, none of these kids are "busts" because they keep/kept plugging away at it. How can you call someone a bust that continues to keep digging and putting in the work while being unfairly criticized on a public forum. This is nonsense. The only busts are those that gave in before they even gave themselves a chance. And the ONLY person I can think of that had the talent to exceed what GF and others have already done is none other than Abdirizak Mohamed from Boston English High School. Forgot about this kid huh? This kid was the real deal who seriously could have been the only collegiate athlete from the states to compete internationally 5k up. Ran like a gazelle. Back to back FL champ (Balboa course) winning EASILY. Mohamed was more talented than German, tougher than Ritz, and by the way...ran 1:51/1:52 800's to help his team with points. I hear he's working at a parking garage somewhere in Boston now.

"German this, German that" - do you remember when he said this last fall during a post race interview. This dude is absolutely sick and tired of people picking at him! What the hell! We are just going to have to be a bit more patient and let him work this damn thing out! His path will not be what we want for him or even what he wants for himself! Life isn't like that. We can only take what we can get, when we are able, and when we're not, we wait, we train and we hope for another chance! "Expectation" can be like a cancer that actually inhibits you from seeing things as they really truly are, both as a fan and as a competitor!
Ask yourself this question - "Do you want to see GF succeed or do want to see him fail?"
