Ha, Fox is the master of the kind of reporting you ascribe to the left. Tend to lean right is an understatement. They outright lie. The mainstream media bends over backwards to give both sides. We'd have to dig Trotsky up from the ground and prop him up on TV to have a left-wing view of the equivalent wackiness of dudes like Glen Beck or chicks like Ann COulter or Michelle Malkin.
Facts can certainly be liberal or conservative, or at least point toward what we consider liberal or conservative responses. Is IQ heritable or not? Do genders differ in their population means on various measures or not? (I think in thesse cases, the facts are conservative).
Is there a God or not? Is evolution true or not? Do higher taxes discourage investment and at what point? (I think in these cases the facts are liberal).
When I hear the canard that there is discrimination against conservatives because most history professorts are liberal, my response is that maybe there is something to seriously engaging the topic that leads one to liberal conclusions. I mean, it could be either way. Do biology departmens discriminate against the religious or is there something about studying biology that renders religious explanations meaningless?
When people say the media is liberal, it is generally with reference to a handful of views (mostly social views) and it discounts the conservative media's existence entirely. I don't hear many journalists who have any sort of critique of the market, advertising, or traditional targets of the "old left".
The real problem, of course, is that there is no real discussion or debate - everyone is preaching to the choir.
