he is consistent at beating people slower than him, but struggles at beating anyone real.
you're welcome David.

Would any of you pay cash money to watch Dave run? If so yes he's a pro.
Hell yes, this guy is 3:34/1500 runner. What is the f*** going on with you ass/whites.
Far from Lukezic 2.0. Multiple time national champ, great competitor. Always kicking hard and great attitude. And how can we forget the epic downhill mile thread (and video), what was it, 3:46? Rock on DT
you're right - Lukezic was a 3:33 guy.
Lukezic is banned, so it's not a fair comparison.
David is the f***ing man. I was a huge fan of his at Cal and it's awesome to see him continue to improve as a pro. That said, since apparently it fuels your fire, david Torrence youre a bitch who will never amount to anything. Good luck breaking 334 sucka.
Is it true that 50% of the time he accidently wears his right shoe on the left and vice versa? And that as they say in some parts "His family tree don't branch so much"? Is he really the first 3:34 guy in history to qualify for food stamps? Does he really have Pokemon sleepovers with Shannon R and use the same eyeshadow?
Jus wonderin
David Torrence... What a dipshit.
dude i'd be all about having Pokemon sleepovers with Shannon Rowbury. I'll show her how strong my pikachu is.

Does this guy actually earn a living from running? Also, if he's such a pro, why is he running 4:00 for the mile at Milrose?
I don't think this kid who started this thread knows that the Millrose Games track is only 147m.
David is definitely a pro, he is at the bottom end of tier one or perhaps the top end of tier two.
Tier one:
Webb
Lomong
Lagat
Manzano
Wheating
Torrence
Tier two:
Heath
Centro
Acosta
Lear
Ulrey
etc.
Tier Three:
Pifer
Jefferson
See
Bolas
Novak
Frenandez
Miller
Bumbalough
etc.
I'm really impressed David finished 3rd Friday. He put himself in the back from the gun and had to pass almost the entire field. I wonder what he would have done if he had put himself in the mix from the gun and given himself a legit chance to win the race.
Sometimes I think we're so obsessed with times that we lose sight of WINNING.
dont every say that again! trolling.
2 years ago I saw him run a sub 4 mile outdoors running down the Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis.
Watching the video, he was dead last after the 1/4 mark, mid-field at halfway, really made his move at the 3/4 mile mark, and when he saw the clock, found another gear and broke 4. He received a $10,000 bonus for running the first sub-4 mile at the TC 1 Mile.
He's awesome. You should have seen him high-fiving people after the event, he was like a 10 year old.
This is from the web:
With a lightening-fast performance, David Torrence (23) of Oakland, CA broke the four-minute time bounty with a first-place finishing time of 3:59.3 (unofficial). The first place finish means he walked away with $14,000 ...
What? They are nothing alike. Their strides are opposite, their progression was very different and how they treat running is not close. I guess they are about the same height and their PRs are kind of similar, but that is it.

pros were throwing out sub 3:30's like it was jogging a decade ago.
who in 2001 was throwing out sub 3:30's?
you realize we only had 2 guys qualify for the olympics in 2004 right?
and out 2000 team was dominated by a couple of hotshot 3:35 standard guys who retured with essentially the same PRs
US miling is the highest its been since the scott, maree era

I think he meant on the world scene. That too is inaccurate, as there were only about 10-15 active guys with sub-3:30 PRs a decade ago, depending on what you mean by a decade ago (i.e. exactly 10 years or more like 8-12 years ago).

You mean like when he outkicked Manzano at Penn Relays, destroyed Lopez Lomong in the USATF Road Mile, and soundly beat Dan Huling in a 3k? Yeah, those guys are way slower than him.
This list is retarded. Most of Tier 2 and Tier 3 are still in college. And putting Heath, Centro, Acosta all in Tier 2 and Bumbalough in Tier 3 is pretty ridiculous, too. They're in college still Bumbalough runs for Nike. Having said that, next year, I would bunch them all in tier two.
