Eugene is a lovely place. Not everyone fits and gels with the team though would be my guess. Or they just never improve and decide to give up or go with a change.
it's not that town exactly. it's any small piss hole town that doesn't have any meaning or significance that's all. you only live once and kids want to live in exciting places.

It's too much for most runners to ask their parents to support them after college. Most runners aren't from rich Silicon Valley families. You gotta get a job and take care of your own self.

Wouldn't the same description apply to Ann Arbor? What is the real reason people leave Eugene?
OTC nor Nike don't pay enough to cover expenses. You have to have money from the folks, room with others, or moonlight at a health club. That's the state of running in the USA. Cheap is in.
