7-8 years isn't that big of a deal, again, depending on the age of both of you. If she's 22 and a brand new graduate and you're 30 with almost of decade of real life experience behind you that she doesn't have yet...that could be an issue.
I'm dealing with that right now. Not so much with life experience (for him), but for being at potentially different stages of our lives.
My boyfriend and I have been dating for just over 2 years and are currently on a break. He just turned 28, and I'm turning 22 this year. While he's in no hurry to settle down (and I'm in even less of a hurry, obviously) he's starting to think that he needs to think about his future, etc. and if this is worth it, while I don't even graduate until next spring -- and I have a lot I want to do with my life and that I maybe can't achieve while in a relationship even though I really love/care about him. The age hasn't really been a factor til now -- I think we're pretty great together -- but I think it may cause problems in the future (well, it already is - like I said, we're on a break to figure things out).
