What? No Tom Cruise?
What? No Tom Cruise?

I think for the most versatile actor there is no contest:
Philip Seymour Hoffman
Ah, come on. PSH is convincing in all his roles and he is versatile, but he hasn't mastered the range of Dustin Hoffman. Look at his most famous performances like Rain Man, Tootsie, Kramer vs. Kramer and The Graduate. Not only can he pull them off but he's absolutely brilliant. I just wish he wouldn't ruin his reputation by being in those stupid Fockers movies.
Ed Norton - screwed up white guy
Daniel Day-Lewis - such a hack. Tall British guy.
Kevin Spacey - smart guy who needs something to do.
Arnold Schwartzenegger and Sylvester Stallone are killing machines in all their top movies.
Steve Carell...
he's hilarious, but he's played the same character he played on the Daily Show in 40 Y.O. Virgin, The Office, etc
Easily Tom Hanks. He's always exactly the same. Catch Me if You Can, The Terminal, You've Got Mail: all the same exact character.
Tom Cruise plays the actor who ruins every movie he's in cuz he sucks.

What about Saving Private Ryan and Forrest Gump?
By the way, next time you watch Forrest Gump, watch Hanks when he finds out that Forrest jr is his son. First he is typically low IQ, then his face shows him slowly comprehending. His face continues to tell the story. He shows shock, trepidation (wondering if he's "slow"), amazement, a hint of pride and all through it, the usual sense of basic decency that Hanks exudes. All in less than a minute or so.
Just brilliant.
The guys who keep starring in tepid comedy films over and over, like Vince Vaughn, Seth Rogen, that other really fat guy whose name I don't remember...whatever...they don't show a lot of range.
Imagine how Tom Cruise could have destroyed that movie.

Clint Eastwood.
Thread over. He never played a character. He was always just Clint Eastwood.
No, he plays the same character- but it's a great one
denzel is a saint. you leave him out of this

This made me laugh out loud. Daniel Day-Lewis and "hack" don't belong in the same dictionary together, let alone the same sentence.
0/10 Your trolling is no less obvious when you stray from your racism/zionism theme.

I am pretty sure that was a troll you responded to. I think Tom Hanks is genuinely considered one of the most versatile actors around.
Owen Wilson, always the same character.
I would disagree with Ben Stiller. His characters in Zoolander, Starsky and Hutch, Dodgeball, Meet the Parents, and The Heartbreak Kid were all quite different. Those are just some of his movies I thought of off the top of my head.
Zoolander (oblivious dullard), Starsky and Hutch (oblivious dullard), Dodgeball (oblivious dullard), Meet the Parents (put-upon straight-man), The Heartbreak Kid (put-upon straight-man).

Jack Nicholson. Yeah, he's cool as shit but I'm bored with him. Don't know why he's so revered.
Because he's cool as shit!
I agree with Michael Cera...and its going to be a problem for him because he is going to be to old to play that character soon.
As for Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler, they are both CAPABLE of playing different characters, but people dont like it when they do. They each did a fantastic job in Stranger than Fiction and Punch Drunk Love, respectively, and both got pretty strong reviews, but took a beating because fans of the actors didn't like them. So both of them went back to playing the same damn obnoxious character that makes them money.
Angelina Jolie, people!
Michael Cera can easily branch out into some Jesse Eisenberg roles!
