What times do Ivy recruits run?

HA. Don't let these times scare or discourage you. Those kids could have gotten into just about any school in the nation except for maybe Oregon and Stanford, and certainly would have had large scholarships most places.I agree with the other posters...4:20-4:30 and 9:30 will get you a chance to walk-on just about anywhere if the coach thinks you have any kind of character and work ethic at all.

Not if you phrase the message in an honest, non-elitist way. You can say something along the lines of "Hi coach, I wanted to let you know that I am interested in running for your program. My times are [x,y,z] and while I may not have had the best XC season, I feel that my times will improve come indoor and outdoor this year because [insert honest answer about your training, base, and goals]. Do you feel that someone with these times could be a member of your team? Good luck this indoor season." He may take his time in responding because it is the indoor season (and Princeton is hosting their Princeton Relays this weekend). The worst thing he could say is "no, you wouldn't make it onto the team". But still, apply and if you decide to go there, try out. If you do get accepted, DEFINITELY send the coaches an email to find out details about summer training and tryouts (if they have them).

Sometimes silence could the worst thing.

If you can't run as fast as Donn Cabral just go to a division 2 or 3 school. You probably won't enjoy getting your ass handed to you every day.

I guess I'll try that soon. But I wanna wait until I run a decent time this season.
