That's kind of the point I'm making.
No truly elite guy will go run the 100k championship in his/her prime. It doesn't mean the race is easy it just means a lot of the best runners overlook the race.

The guy who'll win runs between 2:20 and 2:30 for a marathon most every weekend.
But that doesn't mean much. Looking at marathon times for a 100k is like judging who will win a marathon based on their 5k time. Probably even less so.
you 100km time is the sine of the number of black toenails you have divided by the number of missing toenails.
