Happy New Year to you all and wishing you all find the successes you seek.
Ran outdoors on the 1st for the first time since mid-November, all other runs have been treadmill runs. It felt great.
Off to Tulsa on Thursday....back to the treadmill.

A crazy week, 8 inches of snow, 50 mph winds, and temperatures in the 50's! I hope this isn't going to be the pattern for 2011. Got in 50 miles this week and just want to keep it consistent.
I just can't get motivated to run hard or race. I'll run a work out with my high school team about once or twice a month, but not enough. I actually think coaching hurts my training more than it helps. Any suggestions for motivation? During the fall I preregistered for two races guaranteeing that I would run, but performances were poor with limited training. On the brightside, if I can stay over 50mpw this winter I'll be in the best shape since 2003, which may be motivation in itself.
50 miles is great, Hope to be close to that soon.
Cold week up here. From Weds on - it was 20 - 30 degrees for all of my runs. Planned to do some turnover, but with all of the local tracks covered in snow/ice, decided to just roll thru an easy base week. Hard to feel fast when you have several layers on though.
Ran 76 miles this week with a real "ankle-breaker" this morning on the hard-frozen trails.
Some good bowl games being played (shocker with UW beating Neb).
I plan to be as FIT as I can be this year and on the proper occasion - be FAST.

Happy New Year to all...
Crazy but fun week with relatives staying. Had much fun eating and drinking nightly with the older ones, but was punished daily by the toddler-sized ones waking us up at weird hours - I am so glad those days are over and my kids now sleep in! Several days when training wasn't feasible.
47 miles, with one quality session, my first time in spikes on a track with company in 3 months (oh joy!): 2000-1600-1200-900-600-400-200 with the long ones at 80 pace and a 200 just dipped under 30. I guess the weights are working as I shouldn't have that kind of leg speed in December.
Relatives are all gone now so I think I have run out of excuses...time to hit the hills next week, and some serious XC races looming...
Ahhh, sleep. After being deprived for so long, it felt really wonderful to catch up on some sleep the last few days.
It's cold here, too! But it's also really clear, with blue skies and some sunshine - definitely not our normal gray/rain with moderate temps. I'm just trying to put in more and more miles as it traditionally is the most certain way for me to get fitter and faster. I ran about 60 miles this week with a long run of about 13.
The trails here are frozen as well and it is much scarier to run on them. While mud is squishy, it is forgiving -- frozen mud is unyielding and very bumpy. I was so afraid of turning an ankle and so today I only did half the mileage on the trail, with the rest an out & back on Lief (gravel/dirt road). While I generally do not like to do that, it seemed a lot safer.
I've put San Diego in Feb. on hold. If the fares get much cheaper, I may buy a ticket (especially on SW), but for now, I am going to break my streak and not run. If I do manage to go, it will be off plenty of mileage. I want to see if I can run off some of this weight I've managed to add in the last couple of years. I think it's likely that I'll see more of an improvement in time from losing a few pounds than doing more speed work.
I found old results of the 1987 TAC national xc championships (New York City) in my basement. My team took 3rd overall, but was the first "association" team.
It was the first year we women ran 6k (and I had the hardest time grasping how long I'd be racing) and I'm certain that my time is my PR (21:23 for 44th place). Carmen Troncoso-Ayala wasn't that far ahead of me -- and it makes me wonder if I'll ever be that close to her again.
Almost none of the other women in the race are racing xc anymore (many aren't racing at all), but what's fascinating is how many names I recognize in the men's open race! Lots of them are still around and it's fun to see how they compared to guys I knew then. I'm tempted to bring it to a race for people to see, but I noticed that the men's results are available on-line.
Hoping to be fitter and faster this coming year - with no injuries. Oh, and to find true love, happiness and fulfillment in life this year. ;-)
MG, sounds like a good plan, good luck in carrying it out.
Great year for some masters. Updated list

May you have an awesome season- How about 2:02.45 Just ahead of Clingan on the all time World rankings and 23rd overall 50-54 - Good luck!
How often is this list updated? How does one submit a race result into that database?
I'm back from a week in Key West. Had nice weather for three days, and cold weather for three. I was very cold walking in town on Monday and Tuesday night, not what you would ever expect there.
I did run a few times, but I never felt very good. I swam three mornings at an outdoor pool at the community college and it did feel good. I've decided to take a full six weeks off from running until mid February. I'll swim four days a week and ride my bike two or three days. I got home Friday and reassembled my bike for the first time in five years. It is now set up in my basement on the hydraulic trainer. Hopefully after six weeks my legs will feel fresh again and I'll be ready to get back out on the road.
Happy New Year everyone!

I and other runners in my age group have run times (in 2010) within the listed road ranking list. These were at major (USATF cert courses) events. I'm just interested in the record keeping process.
Thanks and happy 2011 to L/R masters
Looks like you may be missing a few runners names. Maybe someone can name the races where times were run that need to be added.
ahh, glory days--if you look at the "best time for place" and click on 5k you'll see an occasional poster in all his glory. i knew getting 21st in a race would amount to something someday...
this is not so much about New Years races. I know there are lots of masters on here that do the USATF national champs, do any of you out there know where the Masters national 10km and 15km road champs are in 2011?
Thanks in advance.

Looks like a lot of drug cheats on these lists.
