If the average taxpayer has no health/dental/eyecare insurance nor pension plan then don't ask the average taxpayer to pay for gov't employees to have it. They should pay for it out of their own pockets like we have to. That goes for Obama, Boehner, Pelosi, Petreaus, Cheney, Bush, too, and all of those effing leeches.
I really think you have a screwed up view of government employees...
I'm a government employee...
I do not have dental or eyecare insurance. I know some do but not most stop watching fox news...i do have basic insurance...mostly emergence room coverage...with a deductable of around 500 dollars...
Most private companies offer their employees more than I have.
I do have a Pension but its only 54 percent of my top earning years. I have to put in 6% of my own money to fund it. Most 401ks will do better than that if the employee fully funds it.
I have a masters. If I worked in the private sector with my degree I'd be making about 20k more than I do now.
What I trade off in benefits and pay I get back by the fact that I only have to work around 30 years before I can retire and I get a lot more job security.
Hey...I'll trade early retirment for more pay any day. But you'd have a hard time finding people to do some of these government jobs if you take away the smallest of benefits.
Once again what kind of person do you want running the military, collecting your taxes, shoot teaching your kids.
If you take a way the good thinks about being a government employee then you will probably get the kids who barly graduate college. Do you want those kids having control over our nuclear bombs.
